The tests show them to be pretty useless. Interesting idea, but detonating a round with no significant chamber just allows the energy to be dispersed in all directions. A regular broad head sure seems like it would be far more effective.

When I was a kid we used to remove the arrowheads and push a .30 carbine case onto the shaft. The idea was to knock squirrels out of a tree without the arrow sticking in the limb.
