Good news & Bad news...bad news first!

After a glowing report from the Surgeon's office, I reported to the Cardiologist, who found my heart was still in 'atrial fibrillation'.
This appears to happen intermittently, and so I am now back on the Coumadin ( anti-coagulant medicine ) for about 3 months.
The 'maze' procedure that was done is to assist the electrical path so my heart doesn't go into atrial-fib.  They cut slits in the heart; then actually brand it .  When the scarring is healed, this is the new path for the electricitiy to follow ( as I understand what the guy told me ).
This can take a month or two.

In the meantime, I take the Coumadin so I don't have a stroke!
At the 3 month post-op mark, I'll wear a 'holter monitor' for 48-hrs. to determine if my heart still goes into the atrial-fib mode.
If so, I'm on Coumadin for life.  If not, then I'm lucky and won't have to take the stuff.

Good News?
I've been cleared to drive my car...
I can walk for exercise...but I can't do any lifting/pushing/pulling until Sept. 15, so I have to be careful of everything I do.
I've been ordered to lose 40 LBS.!  No gut = lower diaphragm(sp.?) so my heart/lungs will work better!  ( I will look like the Ethiopean Stickboy when I get there )
I don't smoke anymore!
I'm busy thinking of what guns/calibers won't be too punishing if I absolutely must give up the hard kickers.

It's been slow going, but I will persevere & prevail.
That's it for now.

It is great to hear that you are up and around, and even Mobile!. I see lots of people that are on Coumadin for their life, and it really is not that big of a deal unless you cut yourself...Then you bleed like a stuck pig.

You have seemed to jump on the bandwagon without trying too hard, Im on a weight loss deal and have to lose about 30 more lbs, and Gibby is slowly but surely doing the same...

The Smokes are 0ther than one hear or there are for the most part with myself and gibby also...

Maybe the SCR's are going to outlive everyone...

BTW: Any of those "Hard Kickers" a FAL?, Before you take them EE or to trade in...IM me.

Thanks, guys.

No, the hardest kickers would be the .375 ULTRA I haven't fired yet......or the 12-ga. shotguns.
I can shoot lighter 12-ga., but the .375 is what it is!

I'll have to wait a while.
If I can't handle the .375, I guess I'll have to settle for a .338 BAR...

I've already been on the Coumadin for a while before the surgery.
I ripped a hangnail once and it did bleed profusely...

You should keep the kickers, If anything they may just knock your heart back into a normal sinus rhythm...

The vast majority of my hunting has been with a .338 BAR. You wouldn't be settleing much.

Warfarin (aka Coumadin®) is an anticoagulant medication that is administered orally or, very rarely, by injection. It is used for the prophylaxis of thrombosis and embolism in many disorders.

Warfarin was originally developed as a rat poison: however, it is no longer used for that purpose as modern rodenticides (see below) are much more potent and toxic than warfarin.

Glad to hear you have a plan to recover.  What hospital did you have your MAZE done at?

Everett Providence.
Dr. Frank Nieto.

Here's to hoping the MAZE does its job within the expected 2-3 months...

Take care of your health!   Leave the big guns to goons who like to shoot 50 BMG's from the hip!  (KA3B..cough cough).

Glad to hear you have good medical care.  Make one thankful to be an American.
