My father inlaw is flying in to the ATL airport in a few weeks on a Thursday @ 2:45PM. I REALLY don't want to drive down there that time of day(and prob. won't be able to until late), we live near Commerce. Anybody know if there's a bus, train ect... that could get him this way, even to Gainesville would help. Just looking for options...

Taxi is always an option.

Or there are car rental places right there. Could do a local one way I would think

Some black car services have very reasonable one way fees.

Matter of fact I do, WTF is your problem? You don't know my circumstances/schedule....I can't get there until late at night, rather not have him sitting there for hours. On top of that at rather not go into the area if I can help it.

I've no problem, and you're right I don't know your situation; not trying to troll you.

But I can't imagine, if it was me, having to do this because there wasn't someone in the family available to meet me.

Using Hartsfield is just painful, there's nothing you can do to ease it.  Just have to go numb and get er done.

I believe I'll just quietly back out of this discussion.

I've used the private shuttle buses plenty of times from Gwinnett to the airport. IIRC, was ~$35 to the house 10-15 years ago. Cab at the same time cost me $85.

Googled airport shuttle and Commerce, GA. Got these guys as the first result. No clue if they are good/bad or even go to Commerce. If they don't someone else will.

BMH, sorry to jump on ya. Any help is grateful . Even if I could get him to the mall of GA area off 85 that would help...

Does he already have a plane ticket?
If not, what about flying into greenville/spartanburg? It is a nice small airport.

There are lots of shuttles. I pass them everyday in the road. But I have no clue on where to go look for them.

ETA I guess Google is your friend

No clue what it would cost, but an Uber ride or a black car service might be your best/safest bet.

Groome Transportation

Very affordable, reliable, and semi classy transportation.

I live East of Athens, and when we travel to Atlanta on 316, I see airport shuttle vans all the time. If I remember correctly, it says they make about 15 trips a day. This might get him closer.

That is what I would suggest.

I think Marta runs up to Sandy Springs, and North Springs.  My folks frequently drop off there to go down to the airport (coming down from Dawsonville).

That's a lot closer to G'ville than driving to the airport.

Take marta from airport to midtown arts center station.  Then take xpress bus to either mall of georgia or hamilton mill.  I believe the bus picks up right outside the marta station on west side (west peachtree street).  I would call to confirm though and make sure you know the exact pickup times.  There is a pizza place DaVinci's of Midtown directly across from where the buses pick up that he could have a beer while waiting if he gets there early.

I wouldn't take MARTA if somebody paid me.  Uber would probably be the first place I'd look.  FYI though I heard the airport was cracking down on Uber pickups so might have to take a short taxi ride off airport property.

pfft . . . MARTA isn't bad.  Taken it twice to get to Hawks games this year.

But I'm on the xpress train . . . goes up to Hamilton Mill (exit 120) from downtown.

Then you are only 15-20min from him unless some idiot decides to wreck themselves between 211 and Hamilton Mill again.  Last tuesday there was an accident right before the off ramp to Hamilton Mill backing the traffic up all the way to 211.  Saturday night someone wrecked themselves in the same place and Sunday afternoon yet again someone decided to flip their car just after the on-ramp from 211.
