| Will Wisconsin ever have it or will we be the last holdout? |
|
If Doyle hadn't won in 2002, we'd have our permits now. If Doyle hadn't won last year, we'd have our permits now. Tommy Thompson was never a supporter of concealed carry, so he never went to bat for us against anti-gun Democrats like Chvala. In fact, it still pisses me off that Ed Thompson ran in 2002, and took 10% of the votes. If Ed hadn't run, McCallum would likely have won, and we'd have our permits now. Whoever the Republican nominee for governor is in 2010, that person will have to favor concealed carry. The issue has come so far that the Republicans have to support CCW, or lose the support of any gun owner who listens to the NRA. The Republicans could possibly gain votes in next year's election, but I really doubt whether they'll gain enough votes to even get to where they were last year, much less have enough votes for a veto override. In the meantime, we have supreme court cases like state vs. Andres Vegas, as well as the issue of open carry. Wisconsin will get concealed carry. It's just a matter of time, and how much volunteer time people are willing to devote to the cause. |
