Hello, I have a customer who is purchasing some equipment from me for which I require a copy of a D/L and CCW permit.  I've never seen a Georgia CCW permit and was wondering if someone could either post an image of what one looks like (generic or with i.d. info removed) or at least describe what it looks like.

Thanks,
TimW

White background - Black wording

County at upper left with a license number to the right
name address under the county
signature under address
then DOB and issue date
then sex height weight and eye color
issuing probate court judge signature or stamp
on the right side is the right index fingerprint and above that is the expiration
(NO PICTURE)

Should be sealed and laminated with some verbiage on the back

About the same size as a credit card

OK.  That tracks with what appeared on the Georgiacarry.org website I finally found.  But there are some subtle differences:

The GACarry example has 7 blank lines for info...his has 8, with a blank line between street address and city.

Also, in their example, the signature of the CCW holder and judge, and the personal characteristics and DOB/Issue Date are all ABOVE the place where it indicates that the information should be. On his, all the information appears below it.

Does that make sense?

Its a very official document that is counterfiet proof

Behold a masterpiece of official documentation:

Each probate judge uses his own format.  There is no standard format in the state.

There is also no standard numbering format for the state. It can be abc-123 or 123 or 123-456.

Great system huh? Maybe instead of fighting us tooth and nail on every carrying case they should get off their ass and standardize the liscence and oh....I don't know. ADD A PICTURE?

Another reason why probate judges should have nothing to do with issuing permits.

I'd rather there not BE a GFL.  "Here's your permission slip."

Thanks everyone.  Arizona doesn't have a picture on our permit, but they are, and have been, a bit more elaborate than Georgia's. :)

Thanks again, this helps a lot.

If it looks fake, it is probably real.  Go figure.    I believe GCO is working on removing the permit process from the probate judges and counties.  This would probably make a much more uniform license.

I would be afraid to show mine in any other state since it looks like it was made by a 5th grader.

I fixed it for you.  You gave them far too much credit.

The whole license thing is bullshite ... its 18th Centrury technology in the 21st Centrury.  Its worthless.

During a man-with-a-gun call, Law Enforcement is going to ask for a photo id and run your id in their Criminal Information database.  If you come up clean, cool.  If the database check says you are prohibited, you're taking a ride downtown.

We spend tons of money on computerizing Law Enforcement and get none of the benefits.
