Packing.org says IN honors Ohio's CCW license.  What are the Indiana rules?  Should I call a Sheriff or the state police for the final word?  If not one of those, whom do I contact?

Tnx.

Contacting law enforcement agencies or individual officers is not the best course of action, as you are unlikely to find any who actually know the law.

Go back to packing.org to the Indiana page.  There is a link there for the pertinent sections of the Indiana State Code.  Read it for yourself, as it's not that long and it's not difficult to understand.

OK, I went back to packing.org and clicked on the link for a summary of laws.  It was kind of helpful, but there is an interesting phrase:  "according to the terms in the license and of the issuing state."

Sounds almost as tho I have to abide by the Ohio stipulations while in Indiana... like open carrying in a car, etc.

The best thing you can do is print out the packing.org info and carry it with you, as many cops don't shit about gun laws.  Then if you run into a situation just show them the info.  It becomes a good starting point for clarifying things.

Most Indiana cops are going to be happy as long as you follow Indiana laws.  You do not have to
inform you have a weapon if pulled over, so unless you are asked, it will be a non issue.

actually indiana only accepts those that accepts indianas and im not sure if ohio does

also note that the list on packing.org doesnt mean crap nor does it actually mean its legal.  that list has serious problems with claiming something is legal when its not and visa versa

Not sure where you're getting your info from but Indiana honors any right-to-carry permits issued by any State. Read it directly from the Indiana State Police homepage:

ISP FAQ - 4th question down

Packing.org clearly states that, "The information provided here is intended to give you a good starting point on the topic of Carrying Concealed Weapons (CCW) and where to look for authoritative information on CCW. When possible, we try to provide a resource of contact information (State Police, State Attorneys General, Licensing Authorities, etc) for you to verify the information on this site. Where this contact information is absent from this site, it is up to the reader to find it." So, I do not see them claiming that something is legal - they merely are giving you the tools for you to research CCW issues further.

This is absolutely incorrect.  All carry licenses from other states and foreign countries are valid in Indiana, as stated in the Indiana Code.  There is no mention whatsoever about reciprocity.

Read the code.  It's in plain English.

http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/code/title35/ar47/ch2.html

IC 35-47-2-21
Recognition of retail dealers' licenses and licenses to carry handguns issued by other states
Sec. 21. (a) Retail dealers' licenses issued by other states or foreign countries will not be recognized in Indiana except for sales at wholesale.
   (b) Licenses to carry handguns, issued by other states or foreign countries, will be recognized according to the terms thereof but only while the holders are not residents of Indiana.
As added by P.L.311-1983, SEC.32.

Not true.  Indiana honors ALL permits, from any state, or country.
