Page 8 in the newest Ohio's Concealed Carry Law handbook states:

Residency
You must be a legal resident of the United states and an Ohio resident
for 45 days before you apply for your license. You must be a resident of the
county (or adjoining county) where you apply for at least 30 days. You must
also be at least 21 years of age and not a fugitive from justice.

It says nothing about obtaining an Ohio ID.

It says nothing about an Ohio ID or drivers license.   The application calls for no "proof" of Ohio residence, but the lack of Ohio ID or DL (and presence of a NY DL) will surely show up during the investigation part of the process.  Pretty sure the price is higher for folks

You need to get an Ohio drivers license anyway.

From the Ohio BMV pamphlet:
NOTE: Ohio law provides no specific “grace period” for converting your out-ofstate
driver license to an Ohio license except Commercial Driver Licenses. Once
you have become an Ohio resident (taken a job, signed a lease, bought a home,
registered to vote, enrolled children in school, etc.), you are obligated to obtain
an Ohio license as soon as possible. Historically, Ohio courts and police agencies
have considered 30 days the maximum time limit.

Welcome to Ohio.  You get to be a first class citizen in this state (as opposed to those citizens and their lharsh laws you left behind in New York).

Thanks,  there not really 'Harsh',  they are just stupid laws.  They make it hard for people to carry, but,,,,

It took six months to get my pistol permit, During which time, I could not even touch a pistol,,  and then when I got my permit,,,  it allowed me to go buy and go carry and never have to show anyone that
I knew where the bullet came out of.  I mean,  there was no testing, no courses to take,   nada.  Go buy, go carry, have a good day,,,,  And better yet, the permit never expires,,,,,

The entire time waiting to touch a pistol, I can buy as many evil black rifles and shotguns as I wanted,,,,,

Gota love New York,,,

That's why we moved  (besides other things)
