I am 20 right now, turn 21 in 3 weeks.

I have already done the hunters safety course which from my understanding is good to go.

Now heres my question, should I mail my stuff in now, or wait till I turn 21?

From my understanding the CCW wait times are nothing like the NFA wait times, so I was worried theyd get to my application before I was actually 21 and then turn me down.

I would call Dept of Agriculture and make an appt to go in to apply, They are always 3 to 4 weeks out for appt's and everything is done there ( Pic, finger Prints ) & the best thing is you will get your CWL 7 to 21 days after.

Was probably going to go to the PD and get finger prints, save me the $45 bucks.

No need to go to PD its all done there all you need to bring is your hunter safety Certificate your ID D/L and a check for $117 for the Lic.

They will not charge you for pic nor finger prints.....your in and out within 20 mins.

From what I just read on the site, is the 117 is actually 2 charges.

Heres a snap shot from the application itself.

They may break it up on their end but you pay one $117 fee.  You can mail it in or go to a regional office and do it there, likely faster and it saves you from getting fingerprinted somewher else and buying passport photos...it's a one-stop shop.  Click here for the map to see if there's a regional office near you.

listen to everyone here, that's the best way to go.... setup an appointment for the day of your birthday. you will be there for no longer then 15 minutes... one way or another it will cost you $117.00
