Hi all,

I'm looking to come to the flathead valley area and I'm wondering if I can carry with my Idaho permit as I wait the six months to apply for a Montana permit. I will be a Montana resident during the time if that makes a difference. Also after reading the laws it seems any restaurant that serves alcohol is off limits even if you don't have a drink, is this true? Thanks.

see the MT DOJ site - https://doj.mt.gov/enforcement/concealed-weapons/

And yes, you cannot carry in an establishment that serves alcohol.  Always remember, concealed is concealed.  Have a good day.

You can open carry in restaurants and bars that serve alcohol.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like it doesn't matter if a Montana resident carries on an out of state permit.

You can CCW in MT with a non-resident Idaho permit (or any other permit that is recognized).  In MT you need the permit to CCW while inside incorporated areas (town).  You do not need one outside of town.  Check the laws on where you can CC as they are funny compared to a lot of states.
