[ARCHIVED THREAD] - CHL Instructor class?

I talked to Judy @ DPS and she said that they only offer the CHL Instructor class once a year??!?!? (In June usually)

I also found out that if you are TCLEOSE or NRA instructor then there may be another option - more frequently?? And that you can get a shorter class, 4 days @ 28 hours (vs. 5 days @ 40 hours)?

New instructor classes are once a year. The next will be in the summer of 2010.
They won't make special classes for TCLEOSE or NRA instructors.
But if you're a peace officer, and it makes you feel better, you can open carry in class.

As I recall it was a shorter class for those already instructor qualified like NRA instructor.
It has been a lot of years since I went though. But I am pretty sure half the class got out early.

Ok yeah, I was wondering if there was another class (more frequently than once a year) but it sounds like that once a year class is it - It is just 28 hours for TCLEOSE/NRA but 40 hours for everyone else.

Yes, it's the 30ish hour class instead of the 40hr class.

An yes, its only once a year, June. Don't forget they have specific ammo requirements.
