CHL question > Texas

Gat a new girl working at my shop. She's a swimmer (nice)

She's also a shooter, somewhat. And she would like to get her CHL. She does a lot of camping and hiking on her own, and carries. (So she's not stupid)

Been in Texas for 12 yrs, with one small problem. She's a canuck.

Is there anything she can do to get her CHL, besides becoming a citizen?

Will be talking to her about that anyway.

Q: If I am a legal resident alien, can I get a license?
A: Under federal law, aliens who have been admitted to the U.S. under
a non-immigrant visa usually are not qualified to purchase a handgun
and therefore do not qualify for a license. As long as you were not
admitted under a non-immigrant visa and are a legal resident of Texas,
you may qualify.

Q: How can I prove my Texas residency?
A: Texas driver licenses or identification cards, voter registration
cards, utility bill stubs and other official documents listing your address
may be used to establish Texas residency.

GC §411.172. ELIGIBILITY. (a) A person is eligible for a license to
carry a concealed handgun if the person:
(1) is a legal resident of this state for the six-month period
preceding the date of application under this subchapter or is otherwise
eligible for a license under Section 411.173(a);

(9) is fully qualified under applicable federal and state law to
purchase a handgun;

So - as long as she is allowed to walk in a purchase a handgun according to federal law, and has been a resident of Texas for 6 months, she should be good to go.

What are her answers to questions 11 and 13 on form 4473? If she can get by these, she should be good to go.
