C&R license works for the shooting activity.  That's what I used to get mine.

You also need a rifle qualifying event in order to purchase. Check the Aurora Sportman's Club. They run CMP qualifiers for non-members for a small fee each year. The ISRA will also have these events scheduled at their Kankakee range.

An Appleseed event also qualified as the shooting portion of the CMP requirements, $75 for the weekend, see April Appleseed thread.. (<- you have to ask for the certificate from the shoot boss)
Membership in the ISRA counts toward the Club requirements. Or a CCW permit from any other state.
The CMP will ship to your door, even in Illinois. They do check for FOIDs, its in the requirements list for Illinois.

I used ISRA and my PA CCW without a problem.  When my buddy handed the guy his FOID he said "We don't need that sh*t!"

I was wondering if they would accept a pa ccw since there was no shooting involved in getting it? Seeing that the shooting events that I looked into involved kneeling when shooting I can not take a course that requires you to kneel. Been thinking about getting a C&R to get around that.

I did a CMP qualifying carbine match at the ISRA range and I don't remember having to kneel.  Prone, sitting and off-hand is all I remember.  Plus it was fun

Many, if not all, events will allow sitting in place of kneeling.  Just call the organizers to confirm. They want people to join and compete, even if you have a minor disability...

Yes. If you have a FOID and you meet the CMP requirements, you're good to go. If the question was is an FOID alone enough to satisfy the CMP requirements, the answer is no.
