Hi, I recently moved to Redmond and I've changed my address to reflect that, but my CPL still has my old Bellevue address on it. I went down to the Redmond PD with the intent of renewing the CPL in order to change the address, but they said I didn't have to. Am I going to run into trouble when I go to buy a pistol if the address on my CPL and Driver's License don't match? Thanks. |

You do not have to change it until it expires. You can change it if you want to spend the ten bucks. from the horse's mouth: <<Good afternoon ~ Thank you for your inquiry into the Washington State Department of Licensing Firearms Unit. Although Washington State law does not require one to update their address on the Concealed Pistol License we do recommend that you do. It just keeps things consistent, and alleviates any possible confusion or misunderstanding in the event something were to happen and you were asked to provide your Concealed Pistol License to a law enforcement officer. If you choose to update your address the process is fairly simple. Just go to the law enforcement agency where you currently reside and let them know you need a replacement license. You will need to complete an application form and pay a $10.00 processing fee, but you should be able to receive the license within the same day. Although, sometimes that may not be the case, it just depends on how busy the agency is. Also, just so you know, your expiration date will not change, it will be the same as the one that you currently have. I hope that this information is helpful to you, but if you any other questions or need any further assistance please let me know. Have a great day!
