My nephew is a resident of MI and is stationed in VA. He has a resident Virginia concealed pistol license. (I am assuming he is allowed to get a resident license because of his military status)
Is it good here when he is home on leave? Seems like I recall that MI residents with non-resident CPLs was forbidden. Is there an exception for active duty military? Thanks |

If he has a resident VA permit he is GTG, it the non-resident permits that are no-gos. This is where someone lives in IL and gets a permit for IN, MI will not honor the IN permit in MI since IN is not the state of residence. This person would need an IL permit for it to be honored here. |

Michigan recognizes all RESIDENT license, meaning you must be a resident of the state that issued the license. For example Michigan recognizes Florida permits if the person lives in Florida, but if they live in Ohio, and have a Florida Non Resident permit, Michigan will not recognize it. |
| If he does not have VA ID such as a driver's license, carrying a copy of his PCS orders stating the assignment to VA might not be a bad idea. Even if the permit says resident on it, accompanied by a Michigan DL may make for an interesting time with the wrong officer. |
