Call me crazy, but I could have sworn that no less than three time this evening I have heard radio ads promoting food stamps. " You can own your own house, own your car, etc. and still get food stamps". Please tell me this is some sick joke.

working in MNPLS the other week... NOBODY who lived in the neighboorhood was working, people going in and out of houses quickly... drug deals? im not going to mention color here. seemed like everyone had a brand new chrysler 300M, magnum, charger, and the house we were working at had a mercedes SUV. now, if they arent dealing drugs, its gotta be the "system" cause i cant afford a mercedes and i WORK. |
| someone called into KQ92 last week and told a story of the couple in line in front of them. something like $290 worth of shrimp and steaks, they paid $270 of it with food stamps. he then watched them get into a brand new car/suv that didnt even have a license plate yet |

It was on either 98.1 or 102....and I do believe it said the ad was sponsored by a .gov agency. I get more details today and report. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping those in need, but this ad had a jazzy tone to it like something off the PriceisRight as compared to what you would expect from a public service announcement. That's the part that got me going. |

F250- Almost anyone can get a loan for a car. The brand new cars you see in the 'hood IMO will be repossesed in a matter of months. And to the issue of them dealing drugs, it is a possibility, but I find it more likely that they have some type of job and they spend all their money on their vehicles. I would be willing to bet that the place they sleep every night is crappy as hell since it isn't cool to fix up ones house in their neighborhood but driving nice cars and wearing nice clothes is cool. |
Hehe... you posted this before I could. Repo work here in the twin cities is at an all time high and getting more busy. One of my former co-workers has family in that biz and they can't life the cars fast enough for the companies. Whats sad is that the auction houses are making money hand over fist on these and the owners don't even care (most of the time) as they can just go to the next bank and swindle them. The banks just let insurance cover the defaults. I guess me and the Mrs. are old school... we make our payments on time and live within our means. |
WTF..?! You mean to tell me you still pay your bills when they are due and don't spend money you don't have.? Nonsense..they quit doing that atleast fifty years ago. I''m a firm believer in cash. When I want something I pay cash. When I want something and have no cash, guess what, I don't get it. once again call me crazy. The foodstamp ad is sponsored by the USDA and is called EatWell. |
Guess I must be really old fashioned. I sometimes pay my bills ahead of time
You need to pull a loan once in a while. If you want to own your own house, you will have a hard time getting enough cash squirreled away for a cash purchase. Not to mention the government takes less of *YOUR* money when you have a mortgage payment. As for the USDA ad, isn't that rich, gov't paying the gov't. Sounds like a democrats dream. |
Just got done sending all my bills out for the month. Like to do them all on the first, so I have a whole month to get ready for the next batch. Already have the house, and credit enough to buy another if I cared to. Still like cash.. Heard the ad again today on 98Country. Cliff Notes version... Hey come and get it!! Doesn't matter if you have a job, home, or car, we'll probably still give it to you.!! Sponsored by the USDA, EatWell. ![]() Drives me nuts every time. |
