Any initial advice / opinions of relocating to the northern Calvert or southern AA Co. area?  Just doing some initial research for a move over a year or two (or three) away.  Thanks.

LOL, I've lived in both over the years.
Too many folks moving into Calvert the last 25 years, and bringing their ways and ideas with them.

But here's a taste of the REAL Culvert county I miss.

You're looking at a 6-of-one/half-dozen-of-the-other type of thing.

Northern Calvert/Lower AA is where my in-laws live.  Property is hyper-expensive still compared to most of the rest of the country, but that's what you get for living that close to Annapolis/DC.  It sure is pretty country.  I think I walked most of the sub-divisions that are there now when I was doing wetland/stream evaluation work.  You tend to see more sub-divisions in Calvert than you do Anne Arundel, but every "new" house is a McMansion that's overbuilt, under heated and under insulated.

My recommendation, is if you have the time, find some property to build on, and build what you want.  Sounds like you have the time.

Thanks for the info gentlemen.  If anyone else has input, I'd love to hear it.  All topics welcome, schools, homes, politics, traffic, etc.  I plan on coming down in a few weeks just to drive around and get a feel for the lay of the land.

Building something probably won't be an option but I see what you're saying Mikey.  That advice is sound in many places.
