Which is the best camo pattern you would use here in Southern Arizona??  Figured I'd ask ya'll especially w/ some of you hunters out there.  I've seen the Multicam stuff, MarPat, ACU, 3 Color Desert, and regular tan/ coyote brown.  I'm planning on going out to the desert to do some tracking refresher stuff, and I don't want to be spotted by the prey that I'm tracking.  Anyhow, thanks for your input and ya'll stay safe.

I actually like the ACU color scheme, blends well with our vegetative desert. I also like the new USAF pattern (ABU?) similar color to the ACU, but tigerstripe.

I'm suprised and how few are choosing ACU which does very well in AZ.

Try well washed OD. It fades to a grey-green that almost disappears in the desert, as it is now.

+1.  Faded green disappears.

AJ, with the exception of bears, I've walked up on virtually every sort of desert dweller at one time or another wearing faded green.  If the wind is right and they don't smell you coming, simple well-used drab stuff works great.

I hunted dove a bunch this past year in jeans and an old OD field jacket and got close to a bunch of stuff I didn't have permits for :)

Natural Gear Camo is better than most stuff you can buy at hunting stores...

However faded camos of most types blends well too.

Why half-ass it? Build a ghillie suit. I've heard they make your penis bigger too.

Just a note about camo in general since I have not spent much time in that area. I do come from a traditional bowhunting background though and  have heard the thoughts on it from those who must get within 30 yards of their quarry. First off let me say I have always worn it in one form or another while deer hunting but there are those who say camo is for humans. Critters detect movement in most ways. There's the school who says as long as you use neutral colors to blend it doesn't matter. Just a little hard core. I must say that I did have an eastern coyote within 15 yards of me while wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt. He also took off like a bat out of hell when I moved a few inches to snap his picture.

ETA: I also have a guili suit and ya wanna talk about disappearing???

I hate so sound like an "Air-Softer", but I'm really digging Multi-Cam. I got a set and it really works well in a wide range of environments.

Faded 3 color desert BDU pants and faded woodland BDU jacket/shirt.

If you're talking about coyotes, you might read this.

I had two Elk cows and a calf walk within 10 yards ofme while I was standing and for a while there was zero cover between me and them.  And they walked away without me being busted, although at one point they looked around very intently sensing somethign was wrong.

I was wearing camo with a blaze orange vest in Colorado.  I was perfectly still which I think is what is most important.

Mossy Oak Brush looks great out here. This weekend I was about 20 yards from my buddy and he was looking around every where. He had just walked down the hill from my position and could not see me. I sat a laughed for awhile then finally raised my arm and waved and it still took him a few seconds to pick me up. I have had about 6 people tell me that that pattern looks amazing out here even just sitting in the rocks I disappear.

You can add my vote for Mossy Oak Brush. Stuff works great for southern AZ
