Happy New Year all, I'm still planning an overnighter on the 15/16th January, I went out today exploring new areas with two good friends in our kayaks, water is a little low but more than adequate, last week I toook sixteen JROTC cadets for a day trip/picnic in same location, had a great time. I have five canoes and six kayaks, also will have a 14' flat bottom fishing boat with motor for logistics. I'll bring a couple of army folding tables. Recommend folding chairs and whatever else is needed. Also highly recommend extra clothes, I had a bank collapse under me this morning at about 0700 and I went completely under. Since this was a "day trip" I didn't have extra clothes, had to stop, build a fire and dry out. Not much fun. Guns are cool, just have to be careful but the creek is about 15' deep and 20 yards across, if it goes in its gone. I'm fifteen minutes south of Huntsville, my two buddies are going, we have lots of room. For those with no or limited experience in a canoe or kayak camping this is a great chance to get some practice. Lots of places to go out there, especially at night. Ill put out a time line later this week. rk |

Sounds good....I'm looking forward to it. I am bringing my Canoe and all my gear. Also, I might be bringing a buddy. Not sure if he can go yet but hopefully he will be able to make it. GhostCat [email protected] |

axl, I am approx 30 minutes south of Huntsville on I-65. Let me know where and when to meet you on Saturday. I'm about 90% sure I'll have a friend come as well. me and him and all our gear in one canoe might be too much. You said you had extra canoes but do you have a way to carry multiple canoes?.......just in case my buddy wants to be in a boat by himself. Thanks, GhostCat |

Too bad, BeetleBailey, GhostCat, I have extra canoes and an 15' flatbottom w/40hp coming along, I'll take a kayak and can bring either extra canoes or kayaks. Just let me know which you prefer. Low will be 27, high in the 40s, all equipment will be transported in the flatbottom, be sure you bring extra clothes and blankets. Meet me at Union Hill, go east on 36 till you reach Cotaco, take second right past closed store, head up mountain, at stop sign at Union Hill turn right, look for Christine's German Bakery on the right 1/2 mile. I'll be there. I'd like to leave around 12, should take you about 45 minutes to an hour to get there, Bakery phone number is 498-1001. Rgg |

axl.....Thanks for taking us on that trip. That was good fun, no doubt. I have to admit......as we speak, I am surfing the net trying to find a good deal on a kayak. I mean...I love my canoe, but I think I want a jet ski instead of a tug boat.....That Kayak was awesome. As for the camping, Its always nice to get outdoors, but to experience the outdoors with nice folks like you and your buds, it makes it that much better. We'll have to do it again soon.... Thanks again for a great camping trip... GhostCat |

Any time. Just glad that we were out last night instead of tonight. The wind is really biting up here. I have to admit I'm fortunate to have the toys, close areas, good friends, time, and health to enjoy and take good folks like you and James out for new experiences. I'll get the photos to you as soon as I can. You have a very nice AR. I'd like to try it out one day. Let me know when and I'll coordinate a one or two nighter in the Sipsey Wilderness area. Ken knows that place extremely well. We won't be able to bring as much stuff though. I go where we were last night weekly, but I'm still awed over how beautiful it is. Rk |
