It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of Capt. Hugh Vales.  It appears that he passed away peacefully  in his sleep while watching TV at his home last night.   The family has not finalized arrangements with Haverstock Funeral Home in Laporte yet.

I am so sorry to hear this. I never attended any of the shoots that he hosted, but from his posts here, he seemed to care about his fellow man and will be sorely missed.

Does anyone know if he got his Tank icon? He had a thread going about how to get one since he had been in the Army for 13 years.

Made it to the viewing. It was nice. It was hard to find a parking spot. A lot of pictures of him. Walked up to the casket and it put a smile on my face. He had an AR in his arms. It just fit him well. Didn't really talk to anyone, just paid my respects and left.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Seemed like a great guy... I had a nice conversation with him at the Meet and Greet at the Tilted Kilt.

I started a thread in the memorial.  Saw one hadn't been created yet.  Man this makes me sad!

Maybe we can meet at the kilt towrds the end of the month and toast Capn.

I will start a new thread about it and see if everyone is open to another meet and great.

Cap told me how he discovered Taps at sunset at Weko Beach by random chance.  I don't know how late in the season the trumpeters play, but I thought I'd swing by there tomorrow night to listen.
