Looking forward to this.

Guys, all the guns and ammo you've been buying up don't mean SQUAT if you are not properly prepared and skilled enough to use them!  If you are serious about your gun skills you should budget time and money for training!

Joe, I plan on paying at the .22 Match if that's OK.

Mark, are you going to be RO'ing? I've got something I want you to look at.

Oh, Just so I know- what is the best zero to have for the class? I'm planning on running an M3 Aimpoint. I figure most of the stuff will be within 30-40 yards at the farthest and would prefer to have a close Zero before I show up.

Looking forward to seeing all you guys again.  We will have more fun than the last time.  Remember to practice the skills you learned in the basic class, so we don't have to spend alot of time reinventing the wheel.

25 yard or 50 yard zero will be good either way. Know your poa/ poi from 5 to 50 yards.

Joe, from looking at the creekside calendar the next advanced carbine class is Feb. 7th. Is there not one in Jan.?
11/30/2008 6:09:29 PM EDT
[#8]
Yeah it is Feb. We have the basic class and a 4 hour proficiency in January.
11/30/2008 6:09:58 PM EDT
[#9]
what does the 4 hour class entail?
11/30/2008 6:15:38 PM EDT
[#10]
It is designed to keep eeryones skills polished up. I have started doing these to help people stay proficient on the their skills. Most people just come to a range and fire off 50 or so rounds and loose what skills they have from not training or practicing enough.

It is also designed to fit peoples budget and time schedules.

ok. i think im going to take both the 4hour class and the advanced class. gotta start stocking up now.

any idea on round count for the 4hour class and the advanced class?

Joe, what about the January course?  When/how should we register for it?
11/30/2008 8:58:17 PM EDT
[#15]
Since I've never taken any type of carbine course before I would be interested in the beginner/basic class in Jan.

Can I use a .308 AR carbine for the class?

Mag changes are difficult with this beast and I think a class would be a great place to practice / get to know the weapon better.

Are 22 ARs ok, or should it be 223?

Registration for any of the upcoming classes are open now. Yes a .22 upper will be fine. Only thing is you maybe behind everyone wit malfuctions.

Monk I have you written down for January. Arcfootball I have you down for February.

I plan on bringing Chem-lites for the night portion, That is if we're allowed to use them. I've used them before in low light to help ID where everyone is.

I should have enough for everyone.

I'll bring a binocular with me. I like the idea from USSA-1's AK class and equipments list. I think it will save a lot of time from walking up and down the range to look at the target.
I will bring extra shoes, shocks, clothes,a few gallon of water to wash off due to the ground will be muddy, a tarp, a chair and some plastic bag to put the muddy gears. This class will be very challenge when you add up the cold weather and the wet ground on top of everything else.
12/11/2008 6:51:33 PM EDT
[#43]
You can bring what you want, bu there will be no need for bino's or for a tarp. You won't be using either one of them.

I doubt there will be much use for a chair either.

Seriously though, at about 10:01pm I forsee some half butt nekkid dudes changing out of "Creekside Advanced Camouflage" [by which I mean MUDD] and into some warm DRY clothes.

I hope everyone's ready. I stuffed mags last night, finished the kit on the PC tonight and readied everything up gear wise.

I have one or two loose ends to pick up from work tomorrow then I'm ready. If anyone needs anything I need to know by no later the 5pm on Friday.

DRINK LOTS OF WATER TOMORROW
