So a friend and I took off a couple weekends ago to Brownlee reservoir on the Oregon/Idaho border where his folks have place. It was a pretty great time, shot the M1A, the Saiga .308 and a few other guns. I fished every night until midnight or later. Brownlee is full of fish, Crappie, catfish and more but each night the Carp that would roll under the lights were huge. We caught one and I succumbed to the need to fillet it and smoke it. It was a smaller one (about 15 lbs) by comparison to what was there. Anyway, I have always wondered how they were. Bony to be sure but not bad really. In China I hear they are known as the buffalo fish and eaten regularly but so far thats hearsay. If it came down to survival, they are pretty good smoked.

Havne't in several years but used to go for Alligator gar donw in TX.  got several smaller ones.  The largest I ever got was 45#.  That was out of a canoe.  It pulled us around pretty good until we coudl get to land.

I haven't shot my bow in years.

If I was the last person on earth, and there was no other food left...

... I'd still have to debate on whether or not to eat carp.

And after that I actually gave thought to filleting my children's Goldfish...

Yep!

MANY years ago, last time was 1980 and it was in Louisiana (Homa). I used a 60# bow.......

...but, when we would go to the Gulf of Mexico is where it really got interesting.....schools of fish would come approx. 10'-20' away from shore
and we would pluck 'em from there. That is if the (blue) Dungenous Crab didn't get us first.

Good Times!

There aren't any Dungeness crabs on the Gulf.

There are plenty o' blue crabs... and even stone crabs, but no dungeness that I know of.
