| Just got the form –– what a load of crap. Sent a note saying that by definition a census is a "counting of the population," and that all I would say is that there are two native Texans living here. |

You'll probably get a house call from one of the 650,000 census workers assigned to follow up on people who fail to return the forms or supply the requested info. What a crock. . . |

Yes i was a little concerned. I thought last time they only asked how many, and ethnic background. They want our names, ages, birth dates. Im not sure what to do, if I dont send it that may draw more unwanted attention, or end up on another list. |

looking for a GPS jammer because I hear that they are getting coordnites on our front doors. I've heard this from 2 different people. They already did this. I know they got mine last Fall. Details please.... Address locations were scouted last year. A census worker would physically stand on your porch or as close to the front door as possible, and confirm address through GPS tagging linked to their database. I witnessed them doing this in my neighborhood. They were instructed to knock or ring the doorbell to alert occupants of their presence but didn't have to wait for a response. Process took less than a minute and they were on to the next house. This is my recollection. |

Yeah, guy came and did the tagging at my house awhile back, I saw him out front doing his thing before he knocked. I came out and had a little conversation .
I'm going to follow Rush's advice: On the section asking for ethnic background just check other and write in AMERICAN! Maybe I'll just write in TEXAN BTW, unless it changed, the last I heard the Obama White House is personally running the census now. Wonder why? |
|
I just moved from one rental to another...... I either got 2 of them or I didn't get any of them... hmmmmm...I wonder what to do... I wont be in this place more than a year either.. looks like I have options. GPS? So what, your house is already on google, bing, yahoo, etc... maps in detail and probably even has a street view, its not just Big Brother, EVERYONE is watching you. |

I really don't understand the census hate on arfcom. We all agree that for the most part, government does a shitty job of governing. Will they somehow do a better job if they have less accurate demographic information? why do they need demographics? They need only the population to determine representatives. My race/income/DOB should have no bearing on how the .gov treats me. |

My race/income/DOB should have no bearing on how the .gov treats me. Agreed, they are supposed to COUNT me not CATAGORIZE me. What chapped my butt is that we were out of town. They mailed us a letter saying we were going to receive a census (the letter was in my mailbox). However, someone decided to hang a plastic bag on my gate with the census forms in it, thereby announcing to the entire community that we were not home. I do not know how long it hung there (several days/weeks I suppose), but inside was a wet, crinkled mess. (It has rained over the last couple of weeks). Looking at the form, my first question is how are people already sending them in when the first question is: 1. How many people were living or staying in this house, apartment, or mobile home on April 1, 2010? I think this is still March....
Question 2 is worse..... 2. Were there any additional people staying here April 1, 2010 that you did not include in Question 1? It's a TRAP! There is a nice note in there regarding the confidentiality of all our personal information. Too bad they were not worried about confidentiality when they hung the census on my gate. [>:// Looks like I got the easy form, only asks how many people in my house and their Names/DOB/Race, whether we own, rent, or have a mortgage and our phone number to call if they don't understand the answers. No questions about income, # bathrooms, etc. We have agreed to answer question #1. I notice it is in a colored box separated from the rest of the questions. Ten years ago we got the long form and we still only answered question #1. My wife's family has lived in Texas for several generations, when it was still part of Mexico. But she can't answer the race questions as she does not consider herself Mexican, Mexican-American, or Chicano. She is willing to put down Texan. |
Is tin foil on sale this spring?
I pondered lying and listing fifteen people at my address. But I didn't. Next time you get pissed off on election night (when the electoral votes for each state REALLY count) remember this little census form. I guarantee you that the Dems & Libtards are doing their best to get everyone counted IN THEIR strongest districts. |
|
Quoted: It would probably be better for our state if we actually lied and claimed another 2 or 3 people lived with us for the census since that would in theory get get our state more representation. You can be sure ACORN folks are doing that. I am pretty sure it is all out WAR, we just do not know it. |
|
Yesterday on WOAI they said if you don't fill it out completely, a Census Worker will knock on your door "at least 7 times" in an attempt to get info.
If that fails, they'll ask the Postman, neighbors, etc. Reality is, the Census taken in the early 1900s is helping my and my sister with our genealogy. Got mine today, and don't see any questions I find problematic. |

Oh, you're going to get a "visit". I didn't receive one. I guess they don't need me and family.
Disclosure: I know someone that's a census supervisor. We kid him all the time about how its going working for ACORN. "Don't hate the player; hate the game." He's a retired Navy Sr. Chief that did a few years with the Blue Angels. |
| My form was hand delivered not mailed. I didn't mind any of the questions except the phone #. Accidently put down the wrong #. My house was GPS tagged last fall also. The guy came in the yard while we were outside and told us what he was doing. He did it all in the street though so nothing I could do about it unless I just took him out. |

I had no problems filling out the form. There was nothing on that form that could be used against me in any way shape or form. they sure used that info against people in the past. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=confirmed-the-us-census-b |

@bigsapper: No, I was just wondering if he had any grumbles/insights regarding that... Not really. Its just a paycheck to him, is all he really cares about. He doesn't like talking about his job because we all crack on him about it whenever we see him.
ETA: The qouted line in my first post is his standard response, if that wasn't clear. |
