Going to visit/house hunt in May.  Trying to find a rental house that's pet friendly for the week - any recommendations?   Been scouring the internet for a week or so.  Or if you have a property ... IM me. :)

Second, I have my in-state VA resident CCW.  I should be OK carrying while on vacation, right?   Once I move officially just transfer it over?

Any areas of Charleston to avoid moving into?  Both of our jobs are going to be near the airport.

Thanks!

Once you have declared residency you can start the process to apply for a CWP. You cannot simply "transfer over". You must fill out the application, get fingerprints (do they still require a photo?), and take the 8-hour class and range qualification. Then you mail it in. And wait. And wait. And Wait.

I believe you must reside here for a min. of 30 days which is a lot better than what it used to be prior to changes in CWP law in 2002 the waiting period for new residents was one freakin' year.

I didn't mean just swap out CCW cards; just meant the process of transferring my in-state CCW to SC.

I read the req's; don't seem all that different than VA.  Shouldn't be an issue, aside from the wait time.

A lot different that Virginia. Six years ago when I lived in Virginia I took a four hour class in a gun show basement then applied for my card. Here your going to take a eight hour class and bring a weapon to shoot and qualify with.

Eta: we don't have open carry here like Virginia.
