I'd like to give a big thumbs up (sarcasm) to all the local assholes in Cheatham Co. who have totally screwed up the TWRA range.

As you enter the range there's a bullet hole in the entry sign. Way to go guys! All the wooden seats have been shot up, wood pillars are shot up as well. Trash was ALL over the place. Friends & I spent 30-45 minutes picking up other slobs trash & throwing it in the dumpster.

Muzzle loading plastic ammo packs all over the ground too. No wonder most consider Cheatham the dumbasses of TN.

Sadly, the Cheatam range is always like that. It was closed for a while and a group from thehighroad cleaned it up and got it reopened. I'm suprised the State hasn't closed it down permenantly.

My club maintains a State owned range in Kentucky. We clean it, cut the grass, pay the electric bill, etc. In return the shooting public has a nice free place to shoot and the club has priority when we schedule our events, which is 5 times a month. Maybe if a group or club would stepup to the plate and take responsibility for Cheatam it would be a nice place to shoot as well.

Some club members putting up our new sign.

I was the ringleader of the group who cleaned up the Cheatham range earlier this year.  Luckily, we were able to help get it reopened and show that some shooters actually have some class and care about their sport.  Unfortunately, there are are far more people without class or concern for others.

Personally, I'd just as soon not shoot at Cheatham anymore.  Not only is it a long drive for me now that I live in Franklin (Owl Hollow being 15 minutes from the driveway), you never know if there will even be target stands or not, especially on the 25 yard line.

When we cleaned that place up, we hauled somewhere close to a dozen pick-up loads out of there, mostly expended ammo.  We also put the tables pick together, after some asshats had shot throgh them and knocked the very heavy tops off of them.  AAARRRRRGGGHHHH, I hate idiots, they give gunnies a bad name.

The only club I know of in Cheatham is Rednecks, Inc.

What irritates the shit out of me is there's a DUMPSTER there to use! Lazy assholes won't even use it!

It's near Franklin. It's also populated by goobers who will repeatedly cover you with their muzzles. Life's too short for that shit, IMO.

Just like any other state.

Best place to shoot is in Nashville, at the new TWRA range on Hobson Pike, near Starwood Ampitheater. Range officers provide a safe place to shoot.

I am now living just south of Charlotte and Cheathan was the first place that I got to shoot at. Full auto Ass holes shot the place up will several hunters where trying to sight in for this season. AssHoles were shooting cross lanes from the 25 yard linr to the berm on the 50. Next trip some GI Joes were shooting body armour that cost more than the cars that they drove up in!
Tn has a big world view outlook thats a lot diferent than the rest of the country. Do not go telling me to go back to where I came from if I do not like it here, unless you are also part Cherokee. All in all best decision I evermade to move here.
Some other shooters were talking about maybe starting a Volunteer RSO program to stiop some of this Bull. This would give a little more weight to those responible shooters, instead of Bubba vs Joe citizen.

Hard to believe since there's a big sign saying "full auto prohibited" & TWRA has repeatedly told folks while I was there there was no full auto allowed. The assholes who shot up the tables & seats aren't restricted to full auto. Biggest assholes I've seen are shooting AKs & SKS's, but they shoot all types.

Someone should've jumped their ass. I would have.

Like what, specifically?

Ah, but I am. Don't let the door hit you in the ass if you don't like it here. I-40, I-24 & I-65 all run 7/24.

All in all best decision I evermade to move here.
Yet you seem to love to slam us here. Make up your mind, eh?

Damn, Owl Hollow is still around. Last time I went there (9 years ago) had to go see the guy in the house next to it to get my 15.00 badge to shoot. It was in crap shape then.
Too many idiots with no discipline or common ass sense go to the ranges and tear them up.
Its a shame we cant got to their houses and return the favor.

Blankwaffe98, if you do check out Owl Hollow, please post it here. I mean conditions and all.
I would just like to know how it looks and how it is being run these days.
It would be nice to have one more range I can go to when I am in that area.
Thanks

Being the son of a former member (15+ years ago), I agree with the above.  It was nice and had a more responsible membership back then.   It has gone downhill over the years.  Having gone there to shoot a few times in the last couple years it really has not changed.  I was surprised at the lack of range etiquette.  But things may have changed for the better since, so I look forward to hearing about it.
