Some of you know that I took a new job that I started this week. The new job will require relocating to the Savannah area very soon.

Also, BatGirl and I recently found out that we have baby #5 on the way.

The new job is kicking my a$$ (no jokes there Rich!) - it's like drinking from a fire hose. Just lots to learn.

We had an Ultrasound done today. Baby Peanut is doing well. We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time today. That was REALLY COOL. Mom had some problems early on but is hanging in there and doing much better. That is also REALLY COOL. Peanut's due date looks to be around the 8-12 of June.

Anyway, I haven't had a lot of time for ARFcom lately and miss you guys.

No, I didn't get banned (again)

(Does anyone need a beautiful house in Cumming with a great view of Sawnee Mt, a huge in-ground pool and hot tub????)

I wouldn't feel too bad about it... I recently took a 30 day trip because of a BOTD violation...

Thanks. I think getting banned is 1) a rite of passage at ARFcom & 2) totally up to the current state of certain mods' menstral cycle (BookHound excluded of course!)

Awesome news.  We called both our babies peanut when they were at that stage because...well that's what they look like on the ultrasound.  We're rooting for June 11th.  That'll be Olivia's first.  She's sitting on my lap right now helping me type and gumming my hand.

I am so happy that Mom and baby are doing OK.  We'll keep ya'll in our prayers.

I won't make any comments about slurping on a firehose, 'cause I know you are phobic about those kinds of topics.

You'll do well since you have a rudimentary knowledge of networking and at least average intelligence.

p.s. have you changed your mind yet?

p.p.s.  Everybody is being extremely nice to me.  You think I should ask for a raise?

p.p.p.s. Macaroni says hello too!!

Thanks for all the thoughts. We appreciate it. I'll be in touch pretty soon.

Yes. However, I saw a guy a few years back that, within 6 months, was doing about 3 times what he was hired to do. This was all voluntary on his part. He then decided to go solicit MO' MONEY!

His boss asked why he thought he deserved more money. After pleading his case and explaining how he was doing all this extra work, his boss looked at him, shrugged his shoulders, and said "and which one of us is the idiot???"

ETA - jk (I haven't told a joke in a couple of days!!)

Welcome to this side of the state.

Kind of cool to know there are other network guys out there.  Never worked with Crisco, only Nortel and Enterasys.

ETA:  let me know if there is anything I can help you with during your transition.  I'm in Brunswick.

BigPhil,

We're not there yet, but will be soonly. Thanks for the offer. I may need to take you up on it. Definately going to need some shootin' buddies once we get settled.

Great news about Mom.  I was a little worried about that.  We've been keeping you guys in our prayers.

BigPhil,

Nortel?  You want to move to Hotlanta?

I thought this was the only place in GA that had Nortel stuff.

I'm a Cisco bigot in a Nortel world.  Now thompsondd is the other way around.  He claims to be vendor agnostic, but we all know the truth!!

Man, 6 months ago I would probably be all over it.  I couldn't find any Nortel shops in the entire SE hiring except Memphis and that is a whole different beast.  Now I am kinda liking small town America and learning another mfg.  You could always send me the info on the position.  I was in TN and had been at two solid Nortel shops for the past 6 years.

Are you guys talking telecom or IT?

If telecom, Nortel is all over Georgia with all the mom and pops.  Just in the Savannah area on the landline side, there is Alltel in Rincon, Coastal Utilities in Hinesville (they serve Richmond Hill), and Bell uses Nortel landline.  Across the river, Hilton Head is served by Hargray, who use a Nortel landline switch.  Down the coast, St. Mary's is served by a Nortel landline switch with Camden Telco.  Coastal and Camden have both been bought, but I can't remember who.  Alma is a mom and pop using Nortel.  Statesboro (Frontier Telco) uses Nortel.

Wireless, I believe that Alltel uses a Nortel switch in the Savannah area.  Verizon Wireless used to have a Nortel switch in Savannah, but moved it to Macon.  90 percent of the Verizon cellsites in Georgia are Nortel.

I'm talking IT (Passports, Contivity's, Alteon, Baystack, BPS)

Yeah, everyone has an old Nortel phone switch (at least it seems)

BigPhil,

I'm talking Nortel 8600s, 8300s, 1648s, 470s, Contivitys, 1200s, 450s & 350s.   1200s, 450s and 350s are mostly going away soon.  Checkpoint FW on Nokia platform.  We also have the Airespace Nortel Cisco wireless system in place.

Avaya PBXs for the most part.

Before this job, I was doing Cisco in a corporate and Data Center environment as well as some Nortel PBX stuff.

I'll shoot you an IM w/ my e-mail address.  Shoot me an e-mail if you want.  I'll give you the scoop.
