My wi8fe has an upcoming assignment in Cincinnati which will last from one to three weeks.
She will fly back home to Pa on the weekends

She will be staying in the Pleasant Ridge area. I dont know which hotel yet but it will be a good hotel.

1) How is that area crime wise ?

2) Can you recomend any places to eat

3) What regional foods are a must try

4) Sometimes she is too tired for a sit down and just wants Take Out to bring back to her room. Any ideas ?

Thank you

If she wants take-out have her try sky-line chili or Gold-star chili. The natives here prefer one to the other, but I think they taste the same. Other than that I don't know much about pleasant ridge.

Pleasant Ridge is a border area. Some neighboring areas are great, others not so much.

I would look for hotels in the Kenwood area. Should be about a 5 min drive will be close to the highway, shopping, and food.

Local favorites: Larosas - pizza, Skyline/Gold Star - very local chili over pasta, Pleasant Ridge Chili - great local dinner/dive, Montgomery Inn - world famous ribs and chicken.

Cincinnati Style chili is great, just make sure you have the right expectation going into it. It's not chili in the traditional sense. It's coney sauce with different (Greek) spices. Very tasty. If you are apprehensive, start off with a couple chili-cheese coney dogs.

If your wife doesn't like that weirdo chili shit they eat down there, Sugar N' Spice restaurant is in that area and pretty good. The Cincinnati Dinner Train is pretty cool, too.

Pleasant Ridge is ok. I have a few projects in the area im working on and am familiar with it. Main issue they have is drugs, but that's like every  major city. its not the best neighborhood but not the worst in Cincinnati either.

2) Can you recomend any places to eat
Montgomery Inn - AMAZING BBQ! Its a classy business casual restaurant, located in the City of Blue Ash. Pulled pork sandwhich with saratoga chips is my favorite.
Morerline House - its down by the stadium, its a brewery but has great food as well.
HofbrÀuhaus - is located in Newport, across the river. its autehtic german food and beer, lots of beer!
Tom&Chee - Its a local chain that was recently on Shark Tank and its rapidly expanding. Gormet grilled cheese, I had them back when the two guys were selling them out of a food cart in downtown cincinnati.
Arthurs - Located in Hyde Park has IMO the best burger in town.
The Pub At Rookwood - Has authentic irish/english/scottish food
Cheese Cake Factory - Every major city has them but if you havent tried its worth a trip.

3) What regional foods are a must try
Blue Ash Chili - Get a "3 way", Its just cincinnati chili (Beanless Chili) over spageti noodles and shredded cheese. Skyline is OK as well, Gold Star is barf.

4) Sometimes she is too tired for a sit down and just wants Take Out to bring back to her room. Any ideas ?
La Rosa - Is a local pizza chain, its ok
Graeters - IMO the worlds best ice cream. its like ben and jerry's only better.

Thank you

As mentioned above, have her stay to the north around Kenwood, Pleasant Ridge and Norwood (just to the south) aren't the best areas to stay.  After the recent flooding in Norwood there has been a lot of break-ins and such on top of the normal level of petty crime.  Not the worst areas, just be careful to keep things out of sight in the car if they have to be left.

Kenwood also will have far more options in the surrounding 5 minute area for entertainment and food.

If she likes Indian food, she must try the Bombay Brazier.  It's just around the corner from the Montgomery Inn.

Also, if she is looking for a little fun/time to kill.  She should head over to Jungle Jim's.  It's an amazing grocery store that's a lot of fun just to walk around in.  The bathrooms are hoot if you don't know what to expect.

If she likes scrapple at all, tell her to try some goetta with breakfast.

She'll also be close to Oakley, lots of trendy, quality restaurants on Madison Road, not far from Rookwood with high-end chain type restaurants and lots of shopping some upscale stores. Pleasant Ridge is pretty decent, certain parts of Montgomery Rd are sketchy to just be hanging out at night on.
