Just wanted to update that it took the Cole County Sheriff's Dept. 15 days to get my CCW processed. I think that's a pretty good turn around time. Now to go buy some bigger pants so I can start carrying.

They have been very good at getting the paperwork processed in a timely matter. Now if other counties would not drag their feet.

Plus, they don't charge any fee . . . though they do collect the Highway Patrol's background check fee.

I can't complain at all. The whole CCW process has been very easy and the $33.25 to MOHP and the $5.50 ID card is well worth being able to protect myself.

It's totally due to Sheriff White. He's a big gun guy. I was at the window renewing my license the other day and he walked through. I introduced myself (although we've met several times before). He asked if everything was OK and I replied that I was just renewing my permit. He said, "that's a good thing." My sense was that he genuinely meant that. This is one law enforcement official who does not reluctantly go along with CCW because he has to. He's a true believer.

I've never had an issue with Cole county. From Hemeyer to White all has been a breeze.

There's a reason they call it "God's Country".

Looks like plenty of us live in Cole County.

(I have a FL permit though).

Sounds like a good guy, the county sheriff where I live is much the same way, they don't even charge for prints, free renewls, and only want a check made out to the MSHP for the background check.
The police chief for the area that I work in has told me himself that they would have to take his gun before he would ever allow the people in his jurisdiction to be disarmed.

I wish more CLEOs had the same sentiment.

Yes, Hemeyer was good, too. I was only around Jeff City a few weeks before Basinger's car accident.

Speaking of the MSHP it is my understanding that the fee they are now charging for background checks has gone down to 30 dollars and some change. I am not sure when it goes into effect.

Good on you MSHP.

$33.25, has been that way for a bit, according to the sheriff's webpage.

Cannot go by the sheriff's webpage as they do not upgrade them all that often.

News came out Feb. 8th according to the instructor listing it on MoCarry.com

Now this does not mean that the individual sheriff's will lower what they are charging for a CCW application. New charge to the sheriff for the background check is $30.50
