I am confused about the whole "Class C versus Class D" liquor permit business.

Been to the AG's website several times to read the wording of the law and I'm still not comfortable I am understanding this.

So is it ONLY places where alcohol is being consumed on the premises which are prohibited (i.e., bars, restaurants that serve alcohol, etc.)?

Or is it ANY place that SELLS alcohol, even if the alcohol is not being consumed on the premises, such as supermarkets, WAL-MART, etc etc?

Thanks for info.

It is prohibited at places that sell for consumption.

Carrying in a bar, or even someplace like chipotle, since they serve alcohol is illegal, since people consume it there.

Carrying in a gas station or grocery store is fine.  Since they do not consume alcohol there.

I believe there is also a provision that if wine tasting one day at a grocery store, you can still carry, but I wouldn't drink, even a sip.

I find it easiest to tell my students this:  If you can drink there, you can't carry there.

Supermarkets, Wal-mart are good-to-go (assuming no gun-buster sign).  There's been some question about supermarkets that occasionally have wine tastings - i think this has been settled: you can carry but do not partake in the tasting, and best advice is just stay away from the tasting area to be safe..   The new AG manual mentions an exception for "retail" establishments: http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/ConcealedCarryBook
