Take this for what it's worth.
I take it as damage control, but I'll let you be the judge. TD www.cooperfirearms.com |

Am I missing it...I don't see anything on their web site about the subject. Either way, he is lying and I will not do business with them in the future. They took the statement down this morning when it became common knowledge that he contributed to Obama on numerous occasions prior to and after the primaries. In other words, they thought nobody would check, and got Pwned as a result. |

I forsee a going out of business sale. Not hardly.... He has more than enough "Fudd" customers that also support Hussin to keep the ship afloat. TD Try "unemployment line". The Board of Directors just requested, and got, his resignation. Yup here it is. In response to the recent article highlighting Dan Cooper’s personal political donations, the board of directors, shareholders and employees of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc would like to issue the following statement. The employees, shareholders and board of directors of Cooper Firearms of Montana do not share the personal political views of Dan Cooper. Although we all believe everyone has a right to vote and donate as they see fit, it has become apparent that the fallout may affect more than just Mr. Cooper. It may also affect the employees and the shareholders of Cooper Firearms. The board of directors has asked Mr. Cooper to resign as President of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc. Daily operations will continue with the competent staff currently in place in Stevensville, MT producing the finest, most accurate rifles money can buy. Dan Cooper has spent all of his working life producing the highest quality rifles built here in the USA. He started with nothing but the American Dream and built that into firearms company anyone would be proud of. We firmly believe Dan stands by the 2nd amendment. We wish him all of the best in his future pursuits. |

I have a suspicion that it is only a paper move. he may still "own" the company just not have his name attached as president or what ever.
If you piss on an electric fence it's gonna hurt..... When are they ever gonna learn. Go ahead and hand over your rights if you think buying them from those who proclaim to want to take them from you will work |

Wow, fired flat out (well, as fired as a President/CEO can be - they forced him to resign). Funny how when you sell guns, and you support an unabashedly anti-gun candidate for President, it somehow affects the business. Who'd a thunk it, huh?
When CEOs leave, they get millions in severance pay. I think he'll do fine, but it still sucks for him. He made his bed. |

Nowhere does it say that he sold his stock in the company. Depending on how much of the company he owns (it is named after him) then this may be a cosmetic change at best. This is quite true. Also, if he holds a majority of stock, he can force himself back in as CEO later. He may be secretly back in control right now and hiding behind the "please stop canceling your orders" news release. I wouldn't let up if I had an order - cancel anyway. |

From USA Today article
It's a really McCarthyism at its worst," said Bob Ricker, executive director of the American Hunters and Shooters Association, which has endorsed Obama. "That's really why our organization was formed, was to deal with this craziness. If you're a gun owner, but you have a contrary view to some of these wackos, they will go out and try to destroy you." http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-10-30-gun-ceo-ousted_N.htm |

Are they actually still being taken seriously at this point? The average dumbass (<cough> Junior Johnson <cough>) will read that and think, "hey, gun organizations support Obama. He must be okay, then."

It is a smaller company. I doubt there is really a board and a large number of stockholders. I didn't check but is the company even public? Privately held companies often have stock, especially when there is more than one owner and they are not splitting the profit or investing the equal amounts of money. The same thing with a board of directors, if you have more than a couple investors, then the company is likely to have a board even if its only a board of only 3 or 4 people. Here is a link to the Montana Secretary of State office. They have forms for incorporating a business one of the blanks is for the number of shares to be issued. http://sos.mt.gov/BSB/New_Business.asp |

I get the mail and email propaganda from the American Hunters and Shooters Association and the Brady's because I feel I need to know what they are actually saying and who they are blaming on their so called issues, plus when on their list they have to spend money in order to send me stuff I throw away and I can educate myself on the enemy at the same time.
The EMail I got today from the American Hunters and Shooters Association stated they were blaming the guy losing his job on the grass roots element / lobbying of the NRA. |

This guy has not lost his job. Read the multitude of threads in GD about this. As stated by someone who answered the phone there........."he isn't going anywhere". An Arfcom member actually called them expressing "concern" for Dan Cooper's welfare and this is the reply he got. |

He built up a small business. He could easily have incorporated and set maybe 2000 shares. He and maybe his wife would probably be the only stockholders. I know many companies that do millions of dollars a year 6-10, and don't have a board of directors nor a large number of stockholders. |
