Shut up

Listen

Shut up

Do what you're told

Shut up

Pay attention

Shut up

Everything that appears to be a "stupid game" has it's purpose

Shut up

Don't be "that guy" in basic.  If you can't find "that guy", straighten up, you're him.

Shut up

Ya think we can wait until he gets out of AIT?

E-claw: Do what PCR wrote.

You'll be fine. Remember, the agony simply CAN'T last forever, and most of the shit is a head game. Keep yours on straight, do not deviate from the plan, and SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Just remember...

Keep your mouth shut.

No one there cares about what you did before you joined.

So...

Keep your mouth shut.

Do what you're told.

Keep your mouth shut.

Don't be a "blue falcon"

Keep your mouth shut.

Don't be "that guy"

Keep your mouth shut.

It's all a head game.

Keep your mouth shut.

It will end sooner rather than later.

Keep your mouth shut.

Don't fuck around.

Keep your mouth shut.

If your battle buddy is a fuck up, don't try to fix him.

Keep your mouth shut.
If you haven't noticed a pattern.... you're doomed.

Keep your mouth shut.

ETA: About profit... when I went through basic, my battle buddy got caught with a pinch of dip and got sent out to be recycled. I knew where his "stash" was (8 logs of dip, 3 cartons of cigs, a stack of porn, 6 fifths)...

Over the next 6 weeks I made over $4000 selling off his stash. I never got caught. Don't be me.

Basic is not reality. Keep that in mind.

You will have guys who break the rules as a rule.

You will have guys who grew up in military school.

You will have "common" guys.

Stay away from the rule breakers.

Learn what you can.

Most importantly...

Keep your mouth shut.

You'll be ok.

Before you speak...

  1. Think.

  2. Think again.

  3. Write what you're going to say in a letter to me.

  4. Mail that letter to me.

  5. I will summarily disapprove said letter.

  6. You will not speak.  In fact you will shut the fuck up.

The following are things I've heard and found, through experience, to be true. Listed in no particular order.

  1. Eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom, when you can. It might be awhile before you can do so again.

  2. Don't stand when you can sit, sit when you can lay down, or lay down when you can sleep.

  3. Safety lies forward. Advance through the enemy.

  4. There is always one more threat, keep looking.

  5. Where you look your muzzle points.

  6. A rifleman commands all that he surveys.

  7. There is no plan, just an idea.

  8. If you know your commander's intent you can improvise the rest.

  9. Always drive your own car to the party, that way you can leave when you want.

  10. Leave vice to the wicked, they're good at it.

  11. Carry your own water. (with thanks to Det. Max Hoover, LAPD)

  12. Don't scrimp on boots or rain gear.

  13. Do it right the first time, that's easier than doing it twice.

  14. The right thing may be the hard thing but it is still the right thing.

  15. Don't let anyone else determine how you do your time. (If someone takes out their bad day on you, don't PIF.)

  16. It's not all about you.

  17. Do your own time. (Keep your troubles to yourself.)

  18. Eat dessert first.

  19. Be where you need to be, when you need to be there, looking like you need to look.

  20. Terrain dictates.

  21. Find them, Fix them, Fuck them, Forget them.

  22. The only time you can carry too much ammo is when you're on fire or trying to swim.

  23. Two is one and one is none.

  24. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

  25. They're all crazy. Some hide it well and some just let it show.

Unfortunately, some guys only dream of being cops their whole lives but because of the tight wallets of the politicians that run the state budget there are limited positions for hiring and the only ones that get them have prior military experience or are lateral transfers, so they join the military to get hiring points and because all they've ever wanted to be is a cop, they take MP even though their recruiter practically begs them not to because they scored way too high to settle for something like that.

And when they get out no police dept wants to hire them because they have to unteach them the bad shit they used while in the service.

I know it is a horrible catch 22 for the good guys. I just have not met too many of the good guys in that MOS.

The best, possibly worst, part of choosing MP is that my dad knows people. Otherwise, my ass would have been heading off to the Airforce's BCT. I see this whole thing with my dad knowing people going either really good, or really bad. So far its been good, so I'm preparing for the bad to come real fast, and hit hard.

I don't plan on being an ass. Infact it kind of bugs me a bit that I will have to enforce laws on soliders becuase I respect them so much. I guess time will tell. BCT is definitly going to be interesting that is for sure. Pretending to not know what a M-16 is will be fun. I'm going to love shooting and not have the guilty feeling about how much the ammo costs.

The day before I left for MCRD my grandpa (WWII B52 tailgunner) told me that the first people you meet who want to be your friend are not who you want to be friends with.  Like much in life, you are judged by those you surround yourself with...choose your friends wisely.  To echo many other posts...shut up and listen.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHahahaha*wheeze*hahahaha.

I shot 200ish no shit live rounds out of my m16 in basic. I hope like hell that you get to plow through some mk19 goodness or something but on the bright side if you can shoot a 40/40 on your qual then maybe they will let you waste the extra ammo at the end.
