Ok so endulge me with my weak ass rant.

So how would you all feel to find out that the worthless POS, Borke dick, waste of human flesh who broke into your home, stole your beloved guns admitted to it....now imagine the joy you learn that he will have to pay you restitution.  He signed a confession.  All is good in the world right?  NO and a big FUCK NO!  a certain county attorney has decided to not charge him with the crimes committed against me!  Why one might ask.  Well according to one such attorney with the enitials of W.R., "it would be to much paper work for me. P**k county has him on other charges so justice will be served....however he is being sent thru the youth offender program...yeah 1 yr probation."

My faith in our legal system is gone.  Guess in my county its ok to commit crime, Attorney can't be bothered with such hard work ya know...working with a signed confession!

I am so pissed.  I feel bad for the Officers, the time they put into this case and nothing!  No charges!

Ok so blast me!  Tell me how I should just (insert whatever here)!

***UPDATE****Ok so today was a wonderful day...not because of the County Attorney...the Dallas County Sheriffs office called me.  They recovered one of my rifles!  I was so excited.  I left work early to go pick it up.  She is beat to shit and dirty as hell but she is home!  One down and lots more to go!

fuck that my dad (when he was alive) was the county attorney of Wright County if he had some thing like he would never throw a case away of course thats a smaller county but still. I think you should take the case to a Judge (you say hes a minor?) if a minor its harder to charge the kid since hes underage and will just dissolve but otherwise take the case to court and find a DA that will go against the county attorney my Uncle is a lawyer in the Des Moines area but handles marriage agreements and bussiness deals nothing criminal related but im sure someone in the oofice he works at will take you as a client (if fund are available) just let me know and ill contact  him and see what I can do.

I would go to the AG's office and see what they will do.  I know they probably won't do a thing, especially when it involves firearms but if the your county attorney finds out, it may change their mind (probably not but I would fell better knowing I did something).

BTW - sounds like Dallas Co tho' I've heard from officers in Adair Co that their county attorney doing the same thing.

Good luck!

Every single newspaper in his county and the Des Moines Register (yeah, I know... ) needs a letter to the editor.
I'd even contact them and see if they would like to do a story on how someone confesses to a felony and the CA doesn't want to bother to do a story.
Re-election time rolls around and there need to be posters and flier all over the county with his face on them and head lines reading "THIS MAN IS JUST TOO DAMNED LAZY TO DO THE JOB HE WAS ELECTED TO DO!" with the story below.
Hell, just for grins and giggles, I'd send an e-mail to Glen Beck or Bill O'Reilly with the subject line "County Attorney Won't Prosecute With a Confession!"
They, rightfully so if you ask me, seem to groove on pointing out elected officials that pass on doing their job.

I thought gun theft was a felony... if the government isn't willing to prosecute a felony then what good is it at upholding the law?

Wanted to say Thank you Michael.

I am going to call the Attorney one more time.  His office said he was out until today.  If he still won't charge them in my case then I will take Michaels offer for assistance.

I have also decided to just put it out there.  Yep this is Dallas county.   This guy has time to go after a cop for a he said she said thing but go after someone who has admitted to a crime?  Seriously what the hell is wrong with him?

you're certainly welcome.  also, just a quick thought...  the sheriff race in dallas county supposedly was heating up, and i don't know if this is the case or not, but if so, things like this could be used by either candidate on their campaign trail.  granted, they'll be using you and your scenario for their gain, but the upside is your issue will get attention.  attention usually breeds results.  something to think about...

If you decide to go out in public with this case a few points for you I got from an Attorney friend of mine regarding public attention.

1. Most of the Iowa newspapers are Liberal and will hesitate to publish anything similar to this. so, send copies to all Iowa publications and let each one of them know that the others have the same story. This tactic is used to force publication by one or more of them. None of them want to be the one that appears indifferent or uninformed.

2. Most Iowa  Media outlets are liberal. try to appeal to their Liberal nature without comprimising the message. For instance, let them conclude that not prosecuting is bad for society. Don't make this an "individual" occurence.

3. Most media is Liberal. Go out of state to get the message out. If the Wisconsin State Journal or the Chicago Tribune get the opportunity to make Iowa look bad, they will pounce on it. Out of state newspapers sell well if they can paint us in a bad light.

4. The Media is Liberal. If you send this out to enough outlets, someone will publish, post or report it. Don't limit yourself to Fox and the consevative outlets. Get it out to everyone, it's gonna cost some money to send it out, but thats what you have to do.

Good luck, I will be watching and if I see anything in the media I will point it out to everyone I can.

Ever see the movie "Boondock Saints" ?

I've seen this happen first hand in the past as well.Caught red handed with stolen goods (not guns) and nothing happens.

I have a hard time making sense of things anymore....
