Next thing is local versions of the May 1 national protests they are pushing. Also be aware of World Cup Soccer stuff ramping up. Not protests but street blockages and general activity. There are team practice areas at some of the mid-size stadiums, media center at KBHCC in downtown Dallas, fan zone at Fair Park. Early matches are these, then some playoff games and a semi-final. We got a good draw of pretty good countries so not expecting any big deals away from the games. Apparently any group can rent this City-owned facility, and then naturally enforce their own dress code for the event. This reaction is why cities or other government entities should not operate these types of facilities in the lawfare age. I expect there are some lawyers looking at the cancellation, it may end up costing GP more than $500k from the state. Hell, groups on either side could intentionally push boundaries* with no plans for a real event, in hopes of a payoff for illegal discrimination. * e.g., White Nationalists swim party, no colored folks allowed except girlfriends As this no longer looks to have potential to be a protest fun time, I won't be commenting more in this tracking thread. |

Jury picked in Anthony trial. Not being sequestered, so I'm pretty sure they will be doxxed. Full case starts tomorrow. There may be some shouting and yelling between the two camps but there won't be any violence in the wake of the verdict itself; the real outrage will occur when Anthony ISN'T sentenced to life and instead receives somewhere around 15, give or take a few. Remember, Amber Guyger got 10 in 2019 and is up for parole this year. ETA: the inevitable appeal process is going to be interesting... |
