I have a california driver license and am active duty military. Does kansas have a problem with California DL holders buying firearms in Kansas? If so, will I need to show my orders bringing me to Kansas?

Nevada was like this, I had to prove I lived in Nevada with my orders befor anybody would sell to me.

Also, now that Military can get CCW in Kansas, is the Cali DL going to be a problem?

The only reason this is such an issue for me is that my Cali DL expired in 2002, but since I am acitve .Mil, it is considered valid as long as I am not stationed in Cali. I really don't want to get a new DL but if I have to I guess I can. It's just that my Cali one still has a picture of me befor my hair fell out.....so it's kinda sentimental.

It is federal law, not state law, that requires a copy of your orders. So yes you will need a copy of your orders to buy a gun in Ks.

As for the Cali. DL being expired, I don't know if that would be aceptable to the ATF. I would have to check the reg book back at the store. However a military ID with your picture on it can be used in place of a DL.

You might try this forum for answers to getting your CCL....

Go get a KS state ID with a picture of your bald head, and keep your Cali. DL.
