From my research the application doesn't officially exist. Working with the great folks at the https://woodcountysheriff.com/ I put together the linked to application. There is no reason this application shouldn't be accepted in any other county for the SHALL ISSUE license. It's $50 for a lifetime license. Become a GOA member and you should be able to own suppressors without a Form 4 if you have this license. I turned in my Application Yesterday. DangerousOrdnanceBlank.pdf [https://adcofirearms.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/DangerousOrdnanceBlank.pdf]OH D.O. License 2923.18 Application[/url] ORC 2923.17 states: (A) No person shall knowingly acquire, have, carry, or use any dangerous ordnance. (C) Division (A) of this section does not apply to: (7) The holders of a license or temporary permit issued and in effect pursuant to section 2923.18 of the Revised Code, with respect to dangerous ordnance lawfully acquired, possessed, carried, or used for the purposes and in the manner specified in such license or permit. |

Thanks. I have also never found a copy of the application. A lawyer in Columbus claimed to have copies of the app, but never responded to my inquiries. This is also all you need to use tannerite in ohio 100% legally. Ill have so submit this to my sheriff and see if theyll sign it. |

State law for hunting will have to be changed if the NFRTR doesn't include suppressors in the future. https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-1533.04 |

As usual, very nice work! As I live in Wood county, I'll be submitting this early next week. You working with the Sheriff works out well for me especially! Thanks for doing the ground work here! |

Know it all detective told me that in addition to the long list of dangerous things they issued these to armored car guards and people that carried firearms. This was way before any CHL and my current CHL does not allow me to carry my loaded SBS in my vehicle, but the way my original permit is worded it technically does. Pretty sure all that staffing is gone but evertyime I called or went in person I got different answers each time. Just more stuff likely in a computer somewhere with my name on it. |
The WCSO started calling people today to pick up their Dangerous Ordnance License. ![]() Here is the Application |

And the OH DOL is because here in Ohio suppressors and short barrels are classified as dangerous ordnance and currently can only be possessed if you have a federal form 4/1 or the DOL. Some states don't have that requirement, so they can do the 4473 only. We just have this extra hoop which thanks to bigbore we now know about. |
