Last night my son calls me at 1 AM. He just shot a beaver on his lake at about 300 yards.
He's sound asleep and his neighbor calls him. He tells him the beaver that every body has been hunting is on the dam under the light by the boat ramp. Matt said he was out the back door inside of 10 seconds with the 22-250 and had shot the beaver inside of 20 seconds from when the neighbor called him.
He's been looking to shoot that beaver for several months now. And so had everyone else. He said he shot the beaver, it flipped up in the air and back into the water. His neighbor comes out his back door after Matt had shot and said "WTF?" They walk down to where he hit the beaver and there is massive blood and guts from where the 55 gr ballistic tip hit the critter, but no beaver. I told him it will float up in a day or so. He said he's neighbor is floored by the shot he made. I may not get my 22-250 back.

I too was out looking for a beaver to shoot last night, no such luck though, had a few in my sights but they were too far out of range, glassed a few more but upon closer inspection deemed them to be way past their prime, at the lower end of the standard .You didn't drink enough beer or else you would have scored! |

I assume he had those? Right? That was a helluva shot though. |
