According to Ohio DNR, the reconstruction will begin this year. The new range won't be operational until 2017 or 2018.

What are they doing to the range? Haven't been there in about 25 years.

I used to go shooting there with friends from College Republicans when I was at OSU

Last time I was there, early November Troy said that ODNR made the plans without consulting the Corps of Engineers or something like that. Seriously though how the hell does it take 1-2 years to move dirt around? Are they doing it by hand?

They are completely rebuilding the range. It has basically been the same since I started shooting there around 1973.
These are the improvements that I saw from an article last year.
• Four hand trap fields.

• 30 shooting positions at 100 yards.

• 36 positions at 50-foot pistol range.

• 24 shooting positions at 25 yards.

• 20 positions at the 90-meter archery range.

• a 14-position 3D archery walkthrough course with elevated shooting positions.

• Range master building with video surveillance; men’s and women’s restrooms; a 92-person capacity education and training center that will feature an indoor archery/air-gun range, classrooms, kitchenette, storage space and office space.

I heard they are only paying a nickle a day and a shot of whiskey.

So is the range still open, or are they shut down until the new one is completed?

With the way that place floods now, the extra time must be for flood mitigation, if they plan to put up permanent structures.

I was told the range will be to the East of the current place out of the flood zone.

Future range layout. Areas 1,2 and 3 are pistol and rifle.

According to what I was told today at the range, the Army Corp. of Engineers wants 100% of existing lead removed from the range before the State can begin construction of the new range. Further news as I get it during my range visits.

An archery course (in addition to the practice lanes) -- that sounds like it could be fun
