My latest article on Examiner. I shot in an IDPA match last night and observed some topics I need to cover. This will be a series of articles.
Using firearms proficiently is a learned ability. No one is born with it, although some have natural strengths that make learning the craft easier.
Proficiency is comprised of several different skill sets in relation to firearms. The most obvious to most people is marksmanship, i.e., the ability to hit a target consistently. However, there are at least 2 other skill sets that apply to firearms; gunhandling and protective tactics. In addition, attitude, frequently referred to as mindset, is extremely important.
