Some good info on military discounts. If you're staying on property, the Shades of Green place is really nice.

The shades of Green is run by .gov.  If you are active mil you can get a great rate on rooms there.  It was remodeled about 2 yrs ago. It is right across the road from the Poly and just down the road from the Grand Floridian.  They have shuttles running from the resort to the parks pretty regualry.

I stayed at the shades of green about 12 years ago.  It was pretty plain back then.

Aside from the elevators, everything was remodeled and very nice.  Couple of years ago, they were putting overflow into the Contemporary Resort, but since they demo'd the North Wing there, I think overflow is now going to the Poly.

disney is a great place, just bring money for food :/ it gets $$.

if you stay at a resort, there are buses about every 15min that will take you to each of the parks or to downtown disney usually well into the AM.

There isn't any alcohol sold in magic kingdom, but at the other parks, EPCOT in particular has drinks from each country in the world showcase. Epcot also has place to taste free coca cola soda's from around the world. You can have as many shot-glass sized serving as you want.

At EPCOT be sure to hit the Mission Space ride. It is a massive centrifuge. There will be about a 100 signs warning you not to go on it if you have heart problems and so on because people have died on it. They actually stock barf bags on this ride and jet ice cold air at your face, it is intense! trick to surviving without spewing is to ONLY LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD. Oh yeah, i don't recommend it if you're claustrophobic either. I only recommend this really for teens and adults. Sits 4 people to an arm with 4 total arms.

At EPCOT I would recommend NOT bothering with the Test Track Ride. Don't waste your time, its the same as driving on the interstate imo. Its basically a big GM commercial.

If you have kids you might enjoy Soarin. Which is a hang gliding simulator with artificial scents in front of an IMAX style screen while being elevated into the air. (seats a lot of people, Can't remember the total but it should accommodate a family group easy)

From EPCOT, you can get to Magic Kingdom by Mono Rail.

MAGIC KINGDOM is going to be best for little kids, but there is lots of stuff there too for young adults/adults/teens. Main Street Bakery in the Magic Kingdom has a really good very large Ice Cream Cookie that is made from scratch. Its on the Right side of main street when you walk in. As far as rides, I recommend Space Mountain (which may be closing soon to get upgrades) which is an indoor roller coaster in the dark without any inversion but some really wicked turns. It seats 6 each in their own seat if i remember correctly. There are two tracks in Space Mountain which are mirrors of each other, so you aren't missing anything by only going on one. Thunder Mountain Railroad is another very good roller coaster, open air, no inversions, incredible turns, but is really loud when ascending(which i guess might bother some people) This ride seats 2 in each row. Two loading docks but the trains go on the same track so it doesnt matter which side you load on. Generally the left line moves slightly faster because of distance. Splash Mountain is a water ride, getting soaked is a crapshoot, you might just get wet. Essentially you're riding a log with four rows that sits 2 to a row. You go up then come down and splash into water.  Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean are fun family rides that give me a nostalgic thrill but really arent exciting to anyone that isnt a child.

MGM STUDIOS, When you walk in go down the main street and take the first right. Keep going til you get to the tower of terror. Go to the fast pass line and use your tickets to get  fast passes (these are free, and just a wonderful system). Once you have fast passes for Tower of terror go hop in line for the Rockin Roller Coaster thats nearby. The Rockin Roller Coaster is an indoor roller coaster with plenty of inversions and corkscrews set to Aerosmith music. The ride launches from a dead standstill using electromagnetic induction. This ride is intense! It seat 2 to a row. Generally by the time you finish with the Rockin Roller Coaster it will be time to get on tower of terror's fast pass line. The Tower of Terror will be able to accommodate the average size family on the side car. You go through the little story line and get to wait in a second line. The line will split, it wont matter which side you take. You will load up into an elevator and the only thing holding you in will be a seatbelt. There is nothing to hold on to. Be sure you hold onto your hat/sunglasses. This ride is a little different each time but is basically a series of rising and falling that is randomized. When falling the ride actually pushes your elevator cart down, so you lift off the seat a little before the seatbelt reminds you to keep going with the elevator. When you're at the peak height the elevator doors will open, giving you a view of the park from 13 stories up. Great ride! Even for the kids. The Muppets in 3D is a neat little movie, especially for the kids. The Star Wars ride is merely a Flight Simulator that jolts you around. The great movie ride is slow and will be dull for kids. It has live action actors that ride around with you as you move through animatronic recreations of old movies. (alien is my favorite). Above all, when visiting MGM go see the Lights Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show. Everyone will enjoy that, come a little bit early and get a good seat. Its stunt driving thats simply impressive.

ANIMAL KINGDOM is another place with little kiddy rides. I recommend hitting Expedition Everest first. This is possibly one of the best roller coasters I have ever been on. It seats 2 to a row and I dont think its worth waiting the extra time just to get in the front row. I wont ruin the surprise on this one but will say its an inside/outside roller coaster with no inversions. This is FUN even for little kids. Next ride I would recommend is the Kali River Rapids. I was there the day before those people got hurt on this ride, but that was just bad luck. The ride isnt dangerous but very similar to other river rapid rides.

Hope this helps. its a rundown of the stuff I usually do while at disney as a passholder. There are plenty of other rides/shows/attractions especially for young kids that i dont bother with but you may want to take your family to. There is so much to do at disney you could be there a week and not see everything. I highly recommend a pass that lets you go freely from park to park to get your best value.

Again if you're staying at a disney resort check which park will be open late (called extra magic hours)Basically after the parks close to general populations resort members can stay later (you have to present your roomcard to get issued a wrist band) and ride rides late into the night. The park that has extra magic hours and the duration of the extra magic hours varies from day to day. Last time I went, it was Magic Kingdom which was open til 2am.

Enjoy your vacation.
