[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Double Standard? (Page 1 of 2)

So Moderators, I guess it's ok for dealers using Shill accounts to sell guns on the EE. Please set up a Shill account for me and let me know the user name and password so I can do the same. Very disappointed in the staff and Hometown Moderators here. |
It seems OK for some people to MENTION an ad they have in the EE and POINT to it from the VHTF. Like this from the Gun Show Thread: I will be attending Saturday with hopes of bringing home some nice ammo and another AR15. I will also try to sell my FN PS90 there as well. If anyone is interested, my ad is here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=93&t=393141&page=1 My VHTF FTF will be $1750. Tell me if you're interested or have something to trade! Don't forget the coupon either! http://www.thenationsgunshow.com/NScoupon3.gif My thread got locked/trashed for less. Management must be on vacation. Or biased. Nevis |
I think he has but he hasn't been over there in a while. At least not since his account got unlocked last time. But he knows he is always welcome over there. As is everyone from the VAHTF. |
+1..... I thought the rule was if you get stuff at dealer prices you have to get a dealer account. |
I've gotta disagree a little. Link to an ad is a nono. Advertising your ad is a nono letting folks in the HTF know that your EE stuff is available at the show without specifics, or specific links to ads..... ? That's a little too murky. I let folks know my ammo would be there. I didn't consider that an offer for sale, or an ad..... but yeah what you posted is definitely lock-worthy. |
While that post may be questionable. What I'm complaining about is licensed dealers allowed to sell in the EE without paying for a dealer account. My question for member's here is would you do business with someone that is dishonest enough to knowingly break the rules in an effort to avoid the expense of a dealer account to make money off you? I'm willing to pay the dealer account fee, but was told that they are not accepting new account. Meanwhile the staff here knowingly allows FFL's that hide behind anonymous accounts to sell in the EE. I hold myself to a higher standard of honesty and ethics, yet I'm the one hurt by the staff's inaction. For those of you that think I'll get banned for asking the staff to enforce their own rules then so be it ban me. At least my honesty, integrity, and moral character are not blemished. |
|
Awww shit here we go again steve-hsa, I really wish they would give you the dealer account, you are a very active an valued member, esp here in the VA HTF. I don't understand why the site won't allow you to GIVE them more money for your dealer account. Sounds like a win-win to me. I don't get it. |
No problem. What concerns me is that the issue was raised over a month ago and no action has been taken. Maybe I should just shut-up, create a SHILL account, but wait, my ethics and honesty are above that. Can't say that for others who's honesty ends at their wallets. What's ironic, with me it's never been about the money. As anyone that has ever done business with me can attest too. It's always been about treating my clients fairly and honestly, something I value more then the small monetary gain you might realize selling Stag lowers or something like that. |
Steve, the fact that you won't compromise your ethics makes you a far better man than any of those dealers in the EE. Thats worth far more. |
|
I paged Aimless. He needs to get in on this. If Steve is going to get locked for what he did then EE needs a good run through with the lock button. I do wonder if this is not a case of the squeaky wheel getting the grease. I recall hearing that someone bitched directly to the staff about what Steve was doing for us in the VAHTF. |
Gee, let's see, some SHILL bitches about what I was doing then some other SHILL starts selling lowers, complete rifles on the EE. Hmmm, anybody with a degree in rocket science? Aimless has known about this for two months and well............. |
| I'm not sure whether this 'proves' anything one way or the other, but the tongue-in-cheek 'ad' pointing folks to a dealer who was advertising Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office marked Glock pistols appears to have been deleted from the HTF. I knew it was treading close to the CoC so I was reconciled to it disappearing, although I only found out it had been deleted when I looked for it ... and couldn't find it. |
I am in awe that anyone would bitch. I certainly did not see anyone else stepping up to help the VAHTF like Steve did. If someone had a problem and got their panties in a twist then why didn't they step up on a mag group buy, or a vector group buy or an etc. |
Greed brother, it's all about greed. Has nothing to do with what is right or good for the VA Hometown community. I wonder how much support I would get if I said, "AR15.com member's are banned from getting deals from HSA." Meaning no more $90 stripped receivers, no more $1000 rifles at $25 over dealer cost, no more cheap magazines after my wife spent days on the phone searching for the best discount in quantity for you guys, no more honoring group buy prices after you guys fail to meet the number, no more discounts after you ask for quantity discounts if you buy "5" and then back out and only get "1", yet I still honor the quantity discount price, or "since you where willing to drive 4 hours for this transfer it's no charge" (since NO ONE ELSE would help you out)....food for thought brothers. |
Now I understand why you are so highly recommended. I was unaware that you did so many generous things for our hometown community. It's good to know there's somebody in the state that is willing to go the extra mile for us. There is a downside though. Now that I know all this, I have another place to leave the contents of my wallet. |
Steve, I'm embarrassed that I also was unaware of all you have have done for us and from now on my wife and I will certainly throw our miniscule gun business your way. I must admit that I was/am totally ignorant of what happened here to you because when it was going on I was laid up on the couch with a non-functioning leg. Fellow Virginians scantily filled me in so I still don't know what really happened and it dosen't matter anyway because we always side with those who side with us! Thanks for everything. Mr & Mrs RV |
I'm amused you chose that particular thread. Solely because that ad was posted by a good, long-time friend of mine. I know it wasn't implied or stated in the post, but I can personally vouch that the above ad is by an individual who is definitely not a firearm dealer or working for a business! Frankly, the only thing I'm pissed about is that he's looking to sell such a beautiful firearm, and that I don't have the funds available to buy it myself! _MaH |
Just so this thread doesn't get Hi-Jacked, this is about licensed dealers continued to be allowed to sell stripped lowers and complete firearms in the EE using SHILL accounts while other dealers are prevented from even purchasing a dealer account. |
|
mhoffman, no offense meant to your friend. I wanted to highlight for AR15 mods an example of where they, the 'mods', treated me very poorly. Hammered me into the ground really. I'm not saying what your friend did is wrong, but if it's OK for some and not for others - then there is a problem. my thread said something like "hey VHTF folks, I've got a 125 gal. compressor for sale in the EE. It weighs about 100 lbs and can't be shipped so I'll give someone in NOVA a good deal!". I didn't even post a link. Anyway, I think steve-hsa has more of a real issue here than I do. Nevis |
+1 on that. If I had not diverted most of my gun money to buying ammo lately he might as well have built a room on for me so I could move in. On the plus side I stare at over 7500 rounds of 308 knowing that I paid less than $25 a battle pack for most of it while people are now paying $45+. |
I'm doing my best to throw my business toward Steve. Between my friend and myself, we're ording 3 supressors from Steve. I'm am so glad that Steve's shop is about 2 hours from me otherwise I would be in trouble with the SWMBO every other day! |
That's just the tip of the iceberg and just for AR15.com people. One service I perform for the the community that I doubt any other dealer much less and greedy SHILL dealer will do is this: Any woman that chooses to arm herself, gets her VA Concealed Handgun permit, and joins the VCDL I will provide for her at my honest dealer cost her concealed carry handgun. |
Imagine living 5 minutes away Stopping by is like a weekly thing!

I know how Steve feels I put a SIG P229R up for sale in the EE a while back and then when I went to bump it I did so a few hours to early. Didn't keep track of the time I guess and my ad got locked and trashed but yet I see tons of Dealers bumping the shit out of there ad's and having others bump theres as well and yet nothing happens not even a warning. So Steve don't feel like you are the only one. Hell for an average Joe it is tough to compete in the EE with all the dealers getting free bumps and you having to wait. Steve if you get locked out again you know you are more than welcome on the other board. |

What do the hometown mods have to do with this issue. As I told you when you contacted me about this, the EE staff are responsible and they would be looking into the issue. The hometown mods have nothing to do with it at all. I take offense that you would try to drag down our mod because of something happening in the EE. As far as Staff goes, it still falls onto the EE ppl to deal with. It is not my area and I don't deal with anything from there. You don't have to like it, but that is the way it is. As for the linked thread, it turns out that it was missed by myself and the mods. We try to catch things, but we don't always see everything. If that is thread is the biggest problem you can find with this forum, then I'm happy. As for the issue you are concerned over I will see what I can find out. |
I hope you DO take offense at this! I thought you and the moderators here had a higher standard of ethics and would not let the good people in the VA HTF be tarnished. It may be in the EE but it's happening in VA and you knew about it. It's like this, if you find a piece of trash on your shop floor, even though you didn't put it their, wouldn't you pick it up and throw it away to keep your shop clean? I would expect a person of your charactor to do just that. You can either be part of the problem or part of the solution, choose a side and either help the VA community out or remove yourself from being "Site Staff", your not doing what we expect of you. You expect me to follow the rules you are charged with enforcing, I only expect you to enforce them fairly and in an ethical manner which is not happening here. If the rules cannot be enforced fairly and ethically then let me know I'll be happy to move on. But the members hear have asked me to stick up for them and that's what I'm going to do. Respectfully submitted. Steve. To all, have a Happy Thanksgiving and remember to give thanks for what you have. Take time today to give thanks to your brothers and sisters fighting for the freedom's you enjoy each day most of which we take for granted. |
|
Thanks for a worthless post, no soup for you. |
|
As I stated earlier, it is not my area and I will not touch anything in that area. There are many reasons why we try to never cross forums, especially in the EE. You all remember how upset you were when some Staff not from VA were coming in here and dealing with things. If people didn't like outsiders dealing with this forum, then why should any other forum be different. Yes I was made aware of the situation and I passed the info along. Plus you reported several threads and those threads are being dealt with by an EE staff member. Since another Staff member is dealing with it, I'm going to let them deal with it. Just because it's not being handled at a speed you like, it doesn't change the fact that someone is dealing with it. I understand why your upset by all this, you just have to let things be dealt with in there own time. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you too. |
Sure... Until this matter is dealt with "in there (sic) own time" I will not do business with any AR15.com member. Sorry, but that's the way it's going to have to be, you loose, not me. Steve. |
|
However, to get on the VAHTF mods and staff over things occurring in the EE is off target. Take it up personally with Aimless, Goatboy or the like. The guys in the VAHTF have their own job to do, and it's not to hold the hand of people who don't like the way things are running here. |
![]() Steve you know I like you, but now your just being a baby about the whole thing. Yeah it sucks your accounts had been locked. Yeah it sucks that another is abusing the system when you were penalized for doing far less. That still doesn't change the fact that someone is dealing with the other issue, and you have to be patient for them do do it. If you were so concerned with the members from the VA HTF then you wouldn't allow something like this to interfere with the relationship between them and your buisness. If you want to take your ball and go home untill you think the rules are fair, then so be it. It's your buisness and you can run it anyway you like. Now go spend time with your family and eat some turkey. |
