Isnt he the 1 that had that post about living with a combat veteran, and they had all of the doors in the house zip tied... they had to stack up out in front of their house and clear it with long guns everyday because of the roommates paranoia
that was a wild post |

He is working for a Gunshop in Colorado as a Gunsmith. Good luck to him! |

I cant find the link. Be he posted pictures of all the obstacles set up in the house, even a drawn out diagram on a cardboard box as to how to properly clear the house everyday with long guns because of the room mate being paranoid.
Sounded like a very dangerous situation. I hope that vet got help with ptsd and hope duke got out of there. |

Word is he had the mods zap it because he was worried about one of the room mates finding it. |

Taken Care of, I called in a strike.... |

Guess I don't get it. Looked like a lot of fun. Crawling through the mud and shooting the AR like when I was younger. (It wouldn't be fun if I had to do it for a living!)
I've taken to NOT commenting about peoples looks, likes or dislikes. Being a fat old fart who is very set in his ways, myself, its safer that way. Besides, he carrying an AR. I assume he can use it. No sense pissing off someone who might be mild mannered and share a beverage or two or a fox hole in the next four years.. But some people are simply stupid. Just my thoughts.... |
|
Yeah - probably best not to be a douche bag and repost pretty much everything that was in that thread that he wanted deleted. Although maybe his room mates did see it and just didn't give him a hard time about it.
Who knows? Quoted:

Combat veterant?
If bros ain't dying, house clearing is nothing but a thing. Clear and beer. Low Stress is key. Knowing is half the battle–– to know, one must be told (Acts 8:31). ETA: WTF point of Y/t code if it doesn't show the dang video!? |

He's not at CTD anymore? What happened with that? Or should I not ask? he said in a thread that he was fired for losing his cool I can not find this thread - perhaps it was deleted as well I remember that one. I enjoyed some of the blog posts he did. Opie's rescue is epic. GD is such a crap shoot, I never try to pile on, trying to keep to the golden rule. I just hadn't seen he was in CO. |

Hey all, I haven't checked in MO Hometown in forever, didn't realize ya'll cared so much! I'm gunsmithing for Douglas County Firearms and getting a place of my own this week courtesy of an arfcommer who is going to be my landlord. Life is great! Will update you guys tonight when I get back from the shooting range and behind my computer. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

So, howdy from Colorado! Cliffs notes on the past six months: In June I was fired from CTD for insubordination. Never speak truth in a corporate environment, and never lose your temper no matter what. It was the best job I'd ever had and I lost it in about twenty seconds, after a year of stellar work for them. Its just too bad, but they fired me over the telephone and that's that, I had to start a new job search. I had promising leads in Tennessee, Colorado, and oddly enough, Minnesota. I decided to throw in with Douglas County Firearms in Castle Rock, CO, a small gun store about to expand into an enormous gun store. The new DCF will have around 4,000 square feet of retail space, a classroom, a gunsmithing shop that will accommodate up to four gunsmiths (in that event I'm Head of Gunsmithing and will manage them all), and a ten lane, 20 yard, climate controlled, rifle rated indoor range. I think that when it gets cold and snowy people will line up to the door to shoot inside, and all the other business will flow from that. I'm already swamped with gunsmithing jobs at the current location as it is. Regarding the gunsmithing, it feels really good to be hands on and working on guns again, instead of just writing and regurgitating what other people are doing. I learned some really painful lessons from my AK building days at Missouri Custom Armament and I'm determined not to repeat those mistakes. The work I take must be simple and quick, with a reasonable turnaround time and a good profit margin built in, or I won't do it. I will repair grandpa's old 1890 Winchester pump-action .22, if I know I can get the parts and I know I can fit them correctly in a reasonable amount of time. What I'm not interested in doing is a full restoration of that same gun, with redoing the wood and sending it off somewhere to get re-blued and all that stuff. That's how you get stuck with projects that are six months old, still not done, and you've spent more time on them than you could possibly charge the customer for. I don't want big projects, I want little ones that I can accomplish in an hour or two. I'm currently drowning in work even so. Douglas County is actually the fifth richest county in the nation, so margins are good. People here have more money than time, so its the opposite of Missouri. We charge $50 to DCOA a gun–– that's disassemble, clean, oil, assemble. Who in Missouri would pay to have someone else clean their gun? But I did four DCOAs just on Saturday alone. That's $200 to clean a 1911, two Ruger .22 pistols, and a Mossberg pump shotgun. I charge $50 to mount and boresight a scope, and another $50 if the customer wants a "true sight"–– yes, I get paid to sight in other people's guns for them because they just can't be bothered to hit the range before hunting season starts. One other nice thing about the high standard of living here is that it keeps the riff-raff out. They can't afford to live here, so they don't come shopping here either. I still have to fix Taurus products frequently though. :( One of the reasons I chose DCF is because Colorado has been a vacation spot for me for years now anyway. Vectorsc offered to let me room with him for awhile until I could get settled, and that's awfully nice. He is pretty much a workaholic at this point and doesn't spend much time actually being awake at his residence. My other roommate is a wounded warrior, a veteran of Iraq who is on a medical disability from the Army. I respect his sacrifice and like him as a man, but he has not recovered from the war yet. He doesn't feel safe no matter his circumstances, and is constantly in tactical freakout mode all the time. His ideas to cope with his perception of danger seem reasonable to him but bizarre to me, and frankly, he often creeps me the fuck out. For example, he wants to buy several of those large dish-type hospital mirrors and position them around the interior and exterior of the house so we can tell if home invaders are lurking around corners waiting to attack us. Every time he comes home to an empty house, he and whoever he is with have to clear the house with guns and weapon lights. I play along halfheartedly and get scolded for not taking it seriously enough. Now, most of us have "cleared the house" once or twice just for fun or for practice. To do it every single time you come home takes a special kind of fear that I hope I never understand. He is in church every time the door is open and I hope eventually it will bring him the peace he is missing right now. But anyway, after seeing my thread about it in GD, I was contacted by some folks, and I'm going to be moving out and getting a place of my own, actually tomorrow is my move date. An arfcommer is going to be my landlord and has given me a very fair deal on a small condo about 20 minutes away from work. So the roomate situation has resolved itself nicely. In other news I'm meeting people and making friends. I'm exercising regularly and I'm below 200lbs for the first time this year. Getting acclimated to the altitude has been a bitch but my asthmatic lungs actually like the air here, while it is thin it is also clean and free of pollutants or pollen. My girlfriend will be moving up from Texas to be with me in another month or so. She wants to establish residency in Colorado to go to college here, and she has a work from home job that she can keep working here, so she'll be paying half of the bills. So that will be a big change as well, I haven't lived with another woman on a daily basis since I left my wife over two years ago. I hope I do a better job of it this time. I invite any of you to come pay me a visit, hike up a mountainside with me and see my gunsmithing shop. If its winter time feel free to bring your skis and snowboards or whatever. I miss my Missouri friends, but Colorado is a beautiful place to live and I am so happy here! |

We are building a really cool range, and there are 4x4s everywhere. Which concerns me because winter is coming and I'm still rolling in a 2 seat, rear wheel drive, supercharged Benz convertible. Whoops. 7 "P"s Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance... Perhaps you should have bought a G-Wagen |

Vector u called me a d-bag for discussing the same exact thing your roommate, duke, mentioned. I had no idea there was sand in Colorado. Plus someone else previously mentioned that there was not a combat veteran living with Duke. And yet you chose to call me a name like this was gd..
So.. #eatadik
