Just got our latest Time Warner bill- now at $174 for digital tv, RR and unlimited land line phone. So I'm looking at a similar package by Frontier which is about $140 ( regular not current  promo price).
TW  customer service has been A1 and we seldom had any cable tv problem but the cost has gone up a lot since we first got it. Sure I'd like to save the $30+ monthly but not if their internet is slower or there's problems with dish reception. So the  question to those who have or had Frontier is it worth it to change over?
Yes? No?

I have Frontier internet and hate it compared to Road Runner, then again I live in the boonies. Right now I'm setup with DirecTV @ $65/month, MagicJack @ $20/year, and Frontier DSL @ $35/month.

I did when my wife and I split. Our bill had been running over $200 a month. I only miss watching some sporting events. I have dvds and video tapes for my kids. Of course, I moved up on top of a mountain where it isn't available. Might get satellite at some point, but in no rush.

We went down to basic cable and got a Roku. Saved about $60/month and we can still see "important" live tv events. Also have Mythtv setup on a linux box and use that to record live shows which eases the bandwidth load.

Watch out for taxes-surcharges-fees and all the other .gov bullshit: we got rid of Frontier when the cost of the add-on's exceeded the cost of the service.

Frontier sucks, plain and simple.  I now have just Directv and TW internet.  I am looking at adding Majic Jack to the mix.

RR for internet=$35
cell phone which every one has..used as my home phone
any TV i watch, i just catch the episodes off of www.hulu.com
if you can wait a day or two for them to upload, your not missing anything

i dont watch tv enough to say so...but even if i did i REFUSE to pay TWs crazy fees/price for what you get...80 channels of shit repeated 9 times to make it look like you have 1080 channels

I started with a verizon bundle package I broke down what it cost me a month
verizon DSL - 41.99/ month
Vonage - 24.99 / month - unlimited local and long distance plus some other area
Direct Tv TOTAL CHOICE PLUS + 3 recievers and a DVR reciever  - 54.99/ month minus 10 for verizon discount ( 5 buck for extra receiver and 7 for DVR receiver ) = 39.99 for one receiver and Total choice package
Total 111.97

Thanks for the input guys. If Frontier's internet service is slower than RR then I guess I'm stuck with what I've got for now. I did more pricing and just changing over to dish and keeping RR and land line will cost what I'm paying now.

TW pisses me off
raising rates at least once a year for long term customers and at the same constantly giving promos to new customers where they get 3 months free

no shit. we're in the process of dumping everything we can.  called them and asked them what they could do on price since we've been a customer for almost 10 years and we're paying almost double the new customer 3/$33 rate..  they guessed they could do $5 off for 3 months.  screw em.
