At any rate go here and follow the steps. You can either save to your computer for later use or run when prompted. It should fix your issue. support.microsoft.com/?scid=aw;en-us;314060&eula=1 |

Dan, Computer stuff is our family business... if you can't get it figured out, shoot me an IM or email, I'd be glad to help you with it(call it the ARFCOM family freebee ).One thing to try is to try using each drive by itself, just make sure they are set for master(or single). If the Master drive on the chain is toast, sometimes(most times) you can't use the slave drive. |
It did! Thanks! |
Do your cd-rom drives show up under the device manager? Right click on My Computer and select Properties. Then choose Hardware and then Device Manager. Click the plus sign next to DVD/CD-Rom Drives. Is there anything listed? |
The drives show up in hardware mgr. There are no signs in hardware mgr that anything is wrong, and looking at the device properties reports everything is fine. Still can't access a disk. |
Okay. Under the device manager, right click on each of your cd/dvd drives and choose uninstall or remove. Then reboot the pc and let it redetect them. If that does not fix the problem I'll be here most of the evening. We'll get it fixed. |

Yup thought so..... quote] You did, but I was looking for "Easy CD Creator *", not "Roxio Easy CD Creator *". So there. That shit was put on the machine when it was new 3 years ago or so by Dell. I had nothing to do with it.
