Update: Bought the house!!!!! Super ready to make this my permanent domicile!!! I put an offer in on a house outside of Georgetown. Within 18 months, I will be an official resident of your state. I have not bought a house in 27 years, so this is quite a process. Doing a VA loan for the first time, so a few extra hoops to jump through. I will be a frequent flier on this HTF, as regardless if this house or a different one, we are coming soon. I see the SO for Georgetown has a range I can use, looks like I can look forward to jumping through a bunch of hoops to get vehicles registered.  Recommendations? One place I have visited a few times already is a restaurant called Janette's Superburger. All I can say is, hole in the wall with some great burgers. |

I would skip the SO range. Look for the range at Twin Ponds. If you take 41 out of Andrews, it's about a 30 minute drive through the forest. Rolling Local on front street for Sushi/Hibachi. Between the antlers for whatever it is they do, just skip the sunday brunch. The Front Porch just opened. The lady that bought the building used to run the cafeteria in the papermill before it closed. I haven't had anything bad, yet. Let us know if you close. I have a fairly good idea about where the house is because I drive through that area on my way home from Georgetown. |

| I think there is a USPSA match the first Sunday of the month at the Georgetown SO range. I haven't shot a match there in years, but I think they still have it. You'll also be near a few PSA stores; Myrtle Beach, Summerville, and Charleston |

Thanks all! We close next week, I will be in town for the closing, getting some cameras up on the house, getting some quotes on some work to be down, specifically flooring, some kitchen remodel, and electrical (can lights installed in the kitchen area). If you have some recommendations for contractors in the area, let me know. We will be back and forth this year until I finalize my retirement. I appreciate all the feedback. Look forward to being a good neighbor, and contributor here. |

Update, Closing is done, I am a proud owner of a new to me home in Georgetown, SC. I appreciate everyone here that has given input. Spent last week changing locks, putting cameras up on the house, moving a bunch of shit that the seller left, which caused some closing drama, and doing an inventory of what I needed. Had a bunch of trades come in to give me quotes, and also called and set up future estimates with some trades from recommendation here.  Met some of my neighbors, one side has some LEOs living there, which is good for me, and my across the street neighbor can't wait to take me out on the boat (LOL), and is watching out for the place already. So far all good people. Pretty excited for the eventual move, will be back and forth intermittently, a week here week there. Will probably take a full month in the spring. |

Georgetown Flooring is almost finished with the floors, they are great to deal with, they adjusted schedule to help me juggle with the ceiling repairs, and so pleased with the quality of the flooring and the look. The drywall and ceiling repairs done by Randy Lambert, he is a local guy that came highly recommended. He did great work, was a little messy, but worked around my schedule, and he had a very busy schedule as well. Good dude, will use him again. North Star contractors, they are in the process of giving me a quote on the kitchen and shower enclosure. Good guy, I was impressed with his knowledge and past work. Spent all last week working on the house, installing a ton of internet based electronics to coordinate A/C, water, garages, cameras, etc, so I can monitor and shut off things when needed. Had to jack up and level some flooring due to shoddy workmanship in the past when a floor joist was cut to run a toilet waste line. I had to add two new piers under the house, and got everything super level. So the house is coming along. I appreciate everyone who had input, and looking forward to my permanent base of operations soon. |

Here is the new place, the interior shot is just after the floors were installed, still have to clean the floors, and paint the ceilings. Right now three bedroom 3 1/2 bath, but I am converting the loft upstairs to two bedrooms, and adding a shower to the bathroom, so will eventually be 4 bed / 4 bath. But that is construction in the future. Right now it is all about getting it ready for the move. 1.6 acres, so obligatory picture of my mowing the backyard. | Swinnies is a little pricey, but good people. NAFTA killed Andrews and it just a shell of what it used to be. There’s lot of good people there though. You’ve probably already met a few. Where you are is is a good spot. If you need any garden or farm supplies, check out Farmers Grain on county line. |

Welcome to SC. I used to go deer hunting on a club not to far from Wee Tee. We went into Andrews to grab something to eat. A great place for whole hog BBQ is Scott’s in Hemingway. Rodney Scott is now world famous with multiple restaurants across the South, and is always on the Food Channel. |
