I am just trying to get a realistic grasp of the NY Senate make up. Where do we stand now that the dust has settled a bit.
I am aware of a few Dems have voted against this micro stamping bill. This isnt intended to solicit opinion . I just want to know how much was gained this past election and how hopefully effective it will be in defeating all this ridiculous legislation that just lurks around every corner. |

Note control of the state senate will come down to well less then a thousand votes. Control of the Senate will be key in redrawing congressional district lines in the near future. If the Dems kept the Senate they would redraw the districts to basically eliminate traditional republican strongholds. Just a few hundred votes will determine a large part of this state's political future. |

"The margin in Nassau is less than half of one percent and with each vote tally, Senator Johnson is gaining ground and closing strong. There are still unanswered questions about vote count irregularities and machine problems —raised by the GOP’s own top lawyer — which must be addressed to ensure all votes are counted in a fair and honest manner. This election should be decided by the vote of the people, not the press release of a political party.” That quote from the article is telling and what I have believed all along. Despite being behind, Craig Johnson-D will pull ahead and win. The NYC Democratic Party machine is not going to let that border district flop back to the "R" column. I have many liberal leaning friends in that district hoping and praying for a Johnson victory. If one needs any proof of the way things are going, Randy Altschuler-R was ahead in the vote against Timothy Bishop-D in the first Congressional District and now Bishop is ahead. This is not a Democratic Party phenomena. If this was Texas and roles were reverse, it would be the Republican machine working overtime to switch the outcomes. I am always hoping for a miracle and would like to see Johnson get his retirement papers, mostly over his support for Microstamping and for accepting a "payoff" to support the obnoxious MTA payroll tax. |

Quoted: Quoted: So , how are we looking!! Still two seats behind. Westchester is expected to go to the "D" column and the 7th is still anybody's guess despite Martins-R leading. I thought if the Republicans win two of the three contested seats it would be 32R - 30D. With two seats undecided isn't the count now 31R - 29D? The best the Democrats can hope for at this point is a 31R - 31D deadlock. Of course there can always be another coup. ![]() |

Fox just reported on Dem shennanigans in the super-tight Congressional race between Bishop and Altschuler. The race doesn't impact the State Senate, but the tactics do.

Fox story Not surprised at all by this and think the 7th will have a similar outcome. Bishop-D and his machine turned the election around after-the-fact and that is what will be. Altschuler was well ahead but as the article points out, there is a lot of funny business going on in that district and no matter the investigation, nobody is going to get prosecuted and nothing is going to change the current outcome. Altschuler would probably be better off working on his 2012 campaign NOW and using the time to tell everyone how the election was "changed". |
