Received my new CHL, after filing for an address change, and found an error on it.

My DL# is incorrect. It shows "77xxxxxx" instead of "22xxxxxx." Not sure how they could make that mistake as those numbers are a long way from being reached lol...

I've tried emailing and calling them (as you are instructed to do when errors are found per the paperwork), but in the past I have gotten zero help out of either avenue. Phones are always down 'due to high call volume' and I have never gotten an email response.

Any ideas how I should get this remedied? I'd hate to carry around a CHL with my incorrect address on it when I have followed procedure only to be sent a bad CHL.

Short of calling if that does not work I would go by either a DPS  office or the Sheriff's office and see what they say.

Call at 7:01 or 7:02 AM.  That's when the call center opens, although the data entry people don't get in until 8 AM.

Is it the DL# or your address that is incorrect?

They fucked up my eye color one time. well when i renewed my DL the lady said my eyes were a diff color and changed on DL.

I called CHL office and lady said to fill out new CHL form and hand write at bottom to change eye color to what was on DL & state the new eye color.

They sent me same CHL without changes, I called, lady pulled up my app and said yea we screwed up, we'll send ya another. problem solved.

if you can get to talk to them id expect an easy fix, they were polite to me.

the best one for me was they sent me an expired licence when I renewed.
I had to prove that they sent it to me expired because they wanted money again for the renewal. lol

To touch on this, I finally got through to someone this morning.

They informed me that my old CHL (1st change of address/2nd issued CHL) had the same error on it.

The lady then accused me of it being my error by typing it in incorrectly on the online form and that I would need to file for a new CHL with another $25. I stopped her right there. I said, "No ma'am. I filled the old application out the same way I did this one, via snail mail. I have never used the online application as I choose not to input my place of work."

She then told me she cannot dispute that with me and that she would pass my information onto a supervisor. And that the supervisor would be in around 8 with no guarantee of a callback time.

So;

  • My 1st issued CHL had the correct DL# on it. How they can change the DL#, without changing the CHL#, to a DL# that has yet to exist?!

  • Error was made, by them 100%, back in 2013.

  • I did not notice until 2nd change of address, 3rd issued CHL that the DL# was incorrect.

  • They are accusing of an error on my part through an online service I have never used.

  • They are asking me to foot the bill for their error, as of now.

I feel as if I am going to wind up paying for the error, as my CHL is "invalid" and them possibly dragging out the "investigation of error" for the foreseeable future.

Thoughts, ARFcom?

1) Call them and be nice and make sure they know it wasn't your fault.
2) If they don't resolve it, tell them you will contact your state rep to have the issue addressed.
3) Contact your state rep. (I've had to do this for other issues and Matt Rinaldi's staff took care of it like a boss)

#1 worked for me when there was an error on my address.  Took probably 3 weeks to a month, but it got fixed.

My first CHL had an extra letter in my last name (DL was correct), Fixed with no issues in about 4 days.
Address change back in Dec they got my new address incorrect, it was filled out correctly online, Fixed with no issues in 6 days.

Always polite when I call and have not had to pay for anything extra.....

Thanks for the responses, guys.

A week later with no call-back from a 'supervisor' I get a new CHL in the mail with the correct ID# on it.

Possibly/Apparently the girl wanted to argue, showed her supervisor, and he just told them to send me a new (AMENDED) one.

Go ahead and lock this thread if need be.
