I was going to say, that is a mighty small calf for this time of year.  That looks more like an early summer pick by the size of that calf... and the blackberries are much to green.

Call BS if you wish, these pictures were taken friday 12/18/09. There were about fourty in the herd, and they have been out there all week. There were two calfs in teh herd that still had spots the rest were all almost double the size.

Very percular. I wonder how late they will calve. I hope for their sake we have a mild winter. No matter though, Coyotes gotta eat same as First Peoples.

Anyone who would like to see these december calves for themselve, the herd is out right now, in the pasture on SE456th between hwy 410 and Blake street in Enumclaw.

Chances are that spotted calf will be coyote food shortly after the first snowfall.  With the hers we have in our area, the calves are just a little smaller than some of the smaller calves.  We haven't seen spots in months.

All the surrounding vegitation is correct for this time of year, and the other elk are in their winter coats.  Nice seeing elk, regardless.
