Hey everyone, not going to go into any details until I talk with a lawyer, but may get slapped with an ex parte against me. I am looking for suggestions for good lawyers (preferable in the KC area, though can drive for the best) that will help me fight the order of protection.

I am planning to contact Kevin Jamison, any other suggestions. Thank you.

I don't think Kevin Jamison would be a good choice as he specializes in the firearm aspect of the law. You need an attorney who specializes more in line with divorce and such even though an order of Ex Parte  with effect your firearm ownership.

Yeah I wondered about that, it shows he does some items other than gun defense etc as well, but didn't know about orders of protection. Figured I would give him a call, if nothing else see if he can recommend someone.  I also plan to give Kelly, Symonds, & Reed a call as they have a decent website about exparte's at least (www.mokanlegal.com).

If you get served...you will have appx 10 days then there will be a hearing in front of a judge...you can tell your side then. Might not even need a lawyer.

Thank you, will also contact Ferguson.  I realize I might not need one, however too much is at stake not to get one.
Thanks

I think you are planning correctly. If you have a chance of going to court you must have one. Way too much to risk. I think your plan to contact more than one is very good. I would pay for a 1/2 hour of their time with your top 3 or 4 choices. Tell them your tale and see which ones you like the best. I would do that now before you are served. Money well spent. I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV. But I did work in a law office for 5 years. Good luck.

Is that where the King orders that your head be disconnected from your body?

I got slapped with one once. Ex-wife, then wife wanted to get the point across things were over and she meant business.

Of course it went to hearing. I appeared with lawyer and order was lifted.

Everyone I know having had a divorce has had an order of protection served.

It's kind like round two in the process.

Don't show without a lawyer is good advice.
