Well, picked up my new Armalite today. Commercial ISP version. Asked about prices at a couple places. Gander Mountain in Peoria had a midlength carbine. But it had a flat top gas block, so not the model I wanted. I was driving by Dunhams Sports in Peoria, and stopped in to check ammo prices. Oh my, an Armalite. I find the woman to open the case, she tells me its the Commercial ISP version. I tell I have to think about it, maybe it will be gone before I get back. She says, no, we have another one in back. So Friday I go back and buy it. And today before work I stop back and wait till 1:13pm rolls around and the 24 hour wait is up. Off to Midwest range. Opened it up and checked to make sure the hole went all the way through the barrel. Shot 60 rounds without a hitch. Sweet rifle. Came with hard case, 30 round magazine, nylon sling, cable lock, empty chamber plug, and the carry handle sight. Couldn't stay long at the range today. Unfortunately, buying one gun usually causes me to buy another. So would one of you guys please go to Gander Mountain in Peoria and buy the Browning A bolt varmint rifle in 25 WSSM caliber that is clearance priced. On the rack over by the gunsmith. The rifle with the black synthetic stock. Someone go buy that before I get back there. Please. Scott |

Nice purchase. I ordered one about six weeks ago and am still waiting for it but that's given me time to put my wish list together. The next three purchases for me will be: 1. Mossberg M590A1 2. Glock 21 (compensated) 3. Remington 700 Police This hobby is expensive and terribly addicting. My girlfriend blew a gasket when I told her what I was planning on buying ("but you JUST bought a rifle!" and suggested I buy another car instead. lol |
How much was it? Im not in the market for one just curious. What else did they have on clearance? |

Well, I made it out of town without buying the Browning. Back in the Quad Cities to spend the holiday with Mom. Hopefully the rifle will be gone or the urge to buy will be gone before I get back into town. Talked to my old reloading/shooting buddy. We are going to Corralville IA tommorrow. He says there is a sporting goods store with lots of reloading stuff. They even have Dillon stuff in stock. Should be fun, shooting shopping road trip. Have a happy Holiday. Scott |
Its a midlenght carbine with a fixed front sight and a flattop upper receiver. Civilian version of the rifle Armalite built on contract for the Illinois State Police. I read about it in the Illinois Shooter. I'll try and get a picture. Scott |
