I have a buddy that bought a G-27 off of Gunbroker.com  He used Pioneer Pawn as his local FFL to transfer and ship the gun to.  Pioneer has the gun and is telling him they have to hold the gun for 21 days for some reason, maybe to make sure its not hot?  I've only used and FFL to transfer a gun once and that was in Texas, I didn't have any wait time at all.  Does this sound right to you guys?

Thanks for the help.

There is some law that pawn brokers (I don't know if it's limited to just them) must hold firearms for a specified amount of time.  I didn't think it was 3 weeks though.  Hopefully someone else will know more about it.

I am fairly sure this is a local ordinance.  Tucson has this for used guns, regardless of who the FFL holder is. Consignment guns are always held.

However, I have received many irons from out of state through an FFL with no hold, from a couple places, so for that, it is kinda strange.

I have never had to wait, but I haven't used a pawn broker. Maybe we should start a thread looking for GOOD FFLs here in the valley. Mike

Here is what I found out, or at least this is what the FFL told me.  If an FFL receives a gun from another FFL there is no wait time, he can give it to you the day he receives it.  If an FFL receives a gun from a private individual he must wait 20 days to give it to you.

I second the motion to start a "good" FFL list.  I've thought about getting mine, need to get an LLC first to keep the ATF out of my private stash.

I have never heard of 20 days- must be local or county.

Even Phoenix is only a week..!

Too little, too late-- but next time it might be worth it to have the gun received outside of Tucson/Pima County!

CALIFORNIA'S waiting period is only 10 days!

Pawnshops do have additional rules than FFLs.
