Have been thinking about joining the National Guard with a 09s because of the college credits that have. I have been wondering who all here is in the National Guard in this state, Which unit and your MOS.

I would like to join a Armor unit ( light Cav ) but I think that the closest one is two hours away  so i am trying to figure what units are out there...

Thanks,,,

I have a buddy in the Guard. he's been doing it for 9 years. He's done just about anything and everything. General Flag Officer's Security, MP, Prison Guard, Infantry, and now he's training MPs. The Guard is a fine career path.

I have been looking over these sites but I am wondering if I want to get into a particular unit do I have to find out if they have a position open for me, or will a spot be made for me?

If you are interested in a particular unit, contact that unit's Headquarters and see if they have a recruiter you can speak to.

If no recruiter is available, ask to speak to an Officer or Senior NCO. Most guard units have full time employees that man the office between drill weekends. One of those should be able to answer your question.
